"Abraham & his team did an amazing job on the cleanup of our backyard slope, then did all the prep & and instalation of rock to replace the old woodchips. This has made everything look so much nicer. And with our slope, it's definitely not an easy job. They did this with honesty, we're very respectful and incredibly decent price. Highly recommended & will use again on future projects."

"Hired Paullin Builds for several jobs. New fence and repair of a section built previously by someone else. New patio railing and privacy panel. High quality work, great communication and customer service at an affordable price. I recommend them to my neighbors who have also hired them for several jobs. We reached out to several builders and even managing to get them out for a quote was difficult. Tom reached out within a week of submitting interest and was at the house within a few days to assess. An estimate followed shortly. I know this is cliche, but save yourself some time and reach out here early in your process if possible."

"Found Sentri on Angi. Jeanette and Violet were very pleasant and efficient in getting a contractor to me in the time frame needed. The contractor was excellent and the roof looks great! I would definitely work with them again if I had additional projects."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Professionals ensure precise alignment and durability, critical for structural integrity.

Balcony construction or replacement typically requires a building permit from your local permitting authority. Safety and building integrity are the main reasons for the need to obtain a permit and the subsequent inspections. In some cases, especially cantilevered balconies, your municipality may also require the oversight and signature of a structural engineer.

Yes, a 2x6 should hold a porch swing and safely support the load. A smaller joist runs the risk of it not offering enough support for the swing. If you have a joist smaller than 2x6, add additional bolstering support.

When hanging a door frame, it’s recommended that you use screws, not nails. Screws are more secure, easier to tighten, and easier to remove if you need to adjust the frame. On average, the cost to replace a door frame is about $400, but you can save on labor costs if you’re confident in your ability to DIY the project.

No rules state how much of a load-bearing wall can be removed. Rather, you need to adequately support any area that is removed. Support should always be added to as much wall area is being removed. Failing to support the area properly will result in structural damage.
