"The design and quality of our new flagstone patio and pondless waterfall was outstanding. Their work ethic and speed of installation was amazing to watch. We are very satisfied with Dan and his team. I would highly recommend Northwestern Landscape and Design."

"I kind of questioned the cost after they did the job. What they actually did here looks pretty good. I just had surgery that time so I was in bed when they came out. They did it under 40 hours and did good work but they handed me another bill that was triple the price. The labor was okay but within that labor, they planted things for me. I had asked them to make it easy to maintain but they never discussed anything with me. I’m sure they upped the cost for the plants quite a bit. I don’t even know what plants they are. They did put in some bricks and they did a good job on that. I told them that I wanted some grooves leveled out in my yard and I realized afterwards that there were still some tracks in the yard. It was covered by grass but I pointed out where they were."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

Regularly clean pumps, remove debris, and monitor water levels to prevent algae growth and clogging.

DIY kits are available, but professional installation ensures proper water flow, electrical safety, and leak prevention.

Even if you empty your pond before the winter, there’s a good chance it will refill naturally. It’s ideal in most cases, then, to leave water in your pond and winterize it instead. This method will prevent ice damage and protect wildlife. Plus, it’ll lessen the steps required to reopen your pond in the spring.

Algae growth is a common issue for misters, but you can do several things to prevent it. First, use a sealed water tank with distilled or filtered water to fuel your misters. Second, blow out the misters after every use so no water is left in the tubing. Third, thoroughly clean the misting system every several weeks of use at minimum during the warmest months. Third, wherever possible positioning tubing and the water tank away from direct sunlight and in the coolest areas possible.

How many fish can call your pond home depends on the volume of the pond and the fish size. Your pond's filtration system also influences the number of fish that will thrive in a pond. A general rule of thumb is to have 1 inch of fish for every square foot in a pond that's 2 feet deep. Another rule of thumb you can follow is to have one koi fish for every 200 gallons of water or two goldfish for every 200 gallons.
