Brad shored it up for the winter with an array of jacks and an enormous chain to ensure the thing wouldn’t fall down till they could return in the spring. Come spring, they fully replaced the damaged section’s support members and facade, and added bracing to the attic, rendering it stronger than before. Foundation support: The sagging beams and jerry-rigged support columns in the dirt basement of our 18th century house were inadequate. They dug and poured a dozen footings and lally columns, supporting a line of new 6x6 and 9x9 beams that provide solid support to the house above. They showed up promptly every day, worked fast, and left the site clean and finished. "He was punctual and personable. He researched the windows available and purchased and picked it up. I made the check out to him but never received a copy of the invoice for the window, despite requesting one.
He arrived on time and installed the window fairly quickly.
My problem: When I returned home I found the old window with the broken glass sitting on my porch. When I asked if he would be removing it, he said, no, all he could so was take it to the dump. So, I was expected to put a window with broken glass, that I could barely life (I'm 62) into my small sedan and take it to the dump because he couldn't be bothered. Granted, I didn't actually ask if he would be removing the old window, I just assumed. Luckily, I asked a friend to help and he took the window to the dump in his truck for me.
My next project for him was going to be a bathroom remodel. Since I don't relish having to take old bathroom fixtures to the dump myself, I will continue my (seemly fruitless) search for a reasonably priced, reliable contractor."
