Micro mesh gutter guards are an effective way to keep tiny pieces of debris from entering your gutters while allowing rainwater to flow through. When professionally installed, they can keep most debris out, are extremely durable, and can last for years.

Vinyl is the cheapest gutter material, averaging around $3 per linear foot. They’re more affordable than other materials because they’re easier to install and more lightweight—which, unfortunately, also makes them less durable. Calcium chloride does not do significant damage to gutters when used properly and in moderate amounts. If you use too much too frequently, it could eventually cause corrosion in your gutters. Rock salt will harm your gutters, though.

Spring and fall tend to be the best times of the year to clean gutters. Fall is when all of the leaves drop into your gutters, so you'll want to clear that out to prevent clogs from becoming worse. Once spring comes, you'll also want to make sure that your gutters are clear of debris for in preparation for rainfall.

Clean your gutters at least twice a year if you don't have any trees near your home. If you have many large trees or pine trees, then you'll want to clean your gutters every three to four months.

The gutters themselves cost between $3 and $30 per linear foot, depending on the material. Aluminum and vinyl are the least expensive, running between $3 and $7 per linear foot. Stainless steel gutters are in the middle-ground, costing between $9 and $20 per linear foot, and copper is the most expensive at $15 to $30 per linear foot.
