"Eric and his crew are knowledgeable, prompt, courteous, reliable, and hard-working. Eric listened to my requests, offered helpful guidance, and did a great job. He excavated a trench through a difficult, rocky area; installed electrical conduit; and removed a section of concrete pad for a renovation project. Highly recommend!"

"I highly, highly recommend Andy Naylor! We are doing a complicated addition to our house in the Hollow; Andy and his crew did a phenomenal job excavating our addition into a hillside, moving our septic tank, and fixing grades all around the house. An added bonus was that he completely transformed our property in the process- we now have double the amount of flat lawn and beautiful rockscaping with boulders all around the house and yard. Andy and his crew were communicative, professional, patient, timely, friendly, and extremely fairly priced. I could not have had a better experience!! Thanks, Andy!"

"On time, on budget, competent, well equipped, and easy to work with. What's not to like? Bent over backwards to accommodate my unconventional requests with no apparent effort. The guy's a veritable microsurgeon with an excavator. Highly recommend!"

Small jobs welcome

"This young man has obviously been the recipient of tutelage well beyond his experience as he is wise beyond his years. He is very affable and is a very good listener. He is somehow able to grasp your vision beyond the words you can provide and create just what was in your mind. A fine young man who will probably become way too busy to work for you. Haha"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Hardscaping often requires preparation of the ground in the area where the feature is being installed. This can include digging, compacting, and leveling the soil, ensuring adequate drainage, and removing any existing plants. The extent of preparation needed will depend on the type and size of the hardscaping feature being installed.

Water lines are buried at various depths, depending on the type of line. For example, most sprinkler lines are buried between four and 12 inches underground. On the other hand, water mains usually sit between one and 3 feet below ground. However, they can go even deeper in cold climates to prevent freezing.

The rules for trenching and excavation include setting up and following safety protocols, learning how to use tools and machines properly, and ensuring there is a safe exit for all workers. Keep heavy equipment and materials away from the edge of the hole or trench. Call the 811 dig line before starting any excavation or trenching project to ensure you don’t hit any electrical or gas lines.

Digging out a basement takes anywhere from a few days to a few months. Most projects take at least two to five weeks, but it could take several months if you encounter obstacles. This project takes longer if you need to brace or raise your home before the excavation. Digging out a basement in new construction can take as little as three days.

Chipmunks dig their burrows about three feet deep and up to 30 feet long. The entrances can be two inches wide or more. Chipmunks are fiercely protective of their burrows and use them to protect the nuts and seeds they gather for the long winters.
