Most homeowners need to wait at least two days, sometimes three, to use their bathtub following the reglazing process. That’s the normal length of time it takes for epoxy resin to cure. There are quick-dry epoxy kits available that cure in 12 hours, though. To ensure that the epoxy dries properly, try to ventilate the bathroom as well as you can.

Regular cleaning, checking seals, and ensuring faucets remain functional help maintain performance, along with periodic inspections.

The difference between resurfacing and refinishing is that refinishing only works on solid surfaces that are in good condition, whereas resurfacing will restore a cracked or worn surface to its original, blemish-free state. Reglazing a bathtub can last as few as three years and up to 15 years. With proper application, the recoated surface is as durable as a brand-new tub. There are a few ways to check whether your tub is fiberglass or acrylic. If your tub is a color other than white, then your tub is likely acrylic (as fiberglass tubs are usually white). Check to see if there is discoloration on the bottom of the tub, because if it’s yellowed, then you can be fairly sure it’s fiberglass.

Also, fiberglass tubs have thinner edges and are cool to the touch. Acrylic, on the other hand, is either room temperature or warm to the touch.
