"Mac did an outstanding job replacing our poured concrete sidewalk. He was able to do the work quickly, on budget and the result was outstanding! Mac was great to work with...no problems communicating with him. We wanted to make sure our project was done with minimal impact to our yard and Mac did a great job in that regard. He also cleaned up after the work was done. I would recommend Sullivan Stone (Mac is the owner) without hesitation! We're planning another project for next year and I will definitely reach out to Sullivan Stone to assist us with that as well!"

"I had a completely different experience than the other reviewed. Doug was incredible and did an amazing job. I hired him for several projects, including general landscaping, tree removal, and area clean up, but the biggest project I hired him for was the removal of a decaying retaining wall and installation of a brand new one. Doug kept me in he loop at all times, kept a clean work site, was completely professional, and did an amazing installation job. Yes, he works alone, but I look at that as an advantage. First, he is a perfectionist and laid every stone himself. Second, his price was much cheaper than other quotes I received because he is not paying employees. The wall, which is 90 feet long, was a huge undertaking and I could not have asked for a better job. I also had him plant trees on my property. He comes by every other day to check on them and water them -- not many contractors care that much. I highly recommend Doug and have already hired him for new projects. The final point I will make is that many of the contractors I have either contacted or hired are non-responsive, do nto keep me up-to-date, or outtight lie. Doug is the complete opposite."

Aquarium Services questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is possible to pump a septic tank too frequently. The ideal pumping schedule varies based on the tank's capacity, household size, and water usage. Pumping the septic tank more often than recommended can cause the beneficial bacteria to leach into the drain field, leading to an imbalance and a build-up of solid waste.

There are a few signs that indicate a failing drain field. For instance, if your septic tank starts requiring more pumping than normal, your drain field might be failing. Other signs to watch for include poor drainage after rain, standing water or sewage over the septic system, a strong septic smell outside, new and healthy grass growing over the drain field, and plumbing backups in your sinks, bathtubs, or toilets.

A septic tank lid is often 1 foot underground, but it could be just 4 inches from the surface or 4 feet deep. For septic tank lids that are closer to the surface, you’ll have an easier time locating them just by looking for signs in the yard or using a metal probe. But for septic tanks that are buried deeper underground, you’ll need to hire a pro with specialized equipment to track down the lid without risk of damaging utility lines.

Natural bacteria break down sludge in a septic tank by dissolving and consuming the solid waste. Your septic tank needs this bacteria to work correctly and avoid filling beyond capacity. You can increase the natural bacteria in your septic tank by adding three rotten tomatoes through your garbage disposal every three months.

Running water may get rid of a sulfur smell temporarily, but it isn’t a long-term solution. If your taps smell like sulfur, take a look at some of the potential causes we’ve outlined above. Depending on what’s going on, you might need to contact a pro to identify and fix the issue.
