"Wonderfully. The equipment used was of high residential quality, especially the machine for cleaning the sidewalks. I had previously used a personal pressure washer to clean a few years ago, and what took me 6 hours to do, Keith finished in about 2."

"Extra work was performed with extra expense & not discussed with me. We eventually settled but the roof leaked in 2 separate places. They said they would fix and it was "under warranty ". At least four requests were made to "fix it". They never showed up. I had to pay $2,600 to repair their insufficient workmanship. I would never allow anyone I know to use them."

Daniel stays busy so he can be hard to speak to on the phone.  But he works like a dog and he has a good eye for detail.  He catches what his crew misses and gets it done correctly.  He took on a much larger project than he'd ever done before and did a good job of cleaning and staining the logs for a 4,000 sq ft house and  cleaning the roof.  Hopefully, it will be a few years before I need to use professional steam cleaning services again but i will call Daniel first.

I also found him to be a man of excellent character and extreme honesty . . . which unfortunately is too rare nowadays.

Finally, Daniel is a bit of a jack-of-all-trades so he can see problems that you may not even be aware of.  In my case, he pointed out how a disconnected gutter was dropping a hard flow of water on the logs and washing away the stain.

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

Most building codes require that spindles or balusters on deck and stair railings be spaced no more than four inches apart. This safety standard, often called the '4-inch sphere rule,' is designed to prevent small children or pets from slipping through the railing. A good way to visualize this is that a 4-inch sphere should not be able to pass between two spindles. For the same safety reason, the space between the bottom rail and the deck floor should also be no more than four inches. As a general guideline, professionals often install three balusters per foot of railing. However, since specific requirements can vary by location, it is crucial to check your local building codes to ensure compliance before starting your project.

Yes, transforming a deck into a sunroom is an absolute possibility. Building a sunroom involves framing in the deck area with walls, adding windows, and affixing a roof. This project is not an easy task, but it does provide a stylish addition to your house. Not all deck designs support this type of renovation project, so consult a professional deck builder before beginning.

To flatten a cupped deck board, start by ensuring it’s dry. Then, try flipping the board over so the cupped side faces down and reattach it. If that’s not possible, you can use screws to pull it tighter to the joists or plane the edges slightly to reduce the cup. It’s best to replace severely cupped boards.

Whether composite decking is better than wood depends on your priorities, especially regarding budget and maintenance. Composite decking offers superior longevity (30 to 50 years) and durability, and it is low-maintenance, requiring no sanding, staining, or sealing. In contrast, wood decks typically last 10 to 30 years and need refinishing every few years. While the upfront cost of composite is higher than wood, the reduced maintenance can lead to long-term savings. If a lower initial cost is the primary factor, wood is the more affordable choice.
