"We chose W C Painting based on its many great customer reviews and the prompt, reasonable estimate Walter provided us. With the work completed, Walter and crew get an "A" in each category connected to the job (including flexibility in accommodating a color change and some add on work). The prep work -- powerwashing; scraping; sanding; wood repair and replacement; caulking; priming -- was particularly impressive, and will make the paint job itself (which looks great!) last for many years. We would definitely use this hardworking, trustworthy, professional outfit again, and will not hesitate to recommend it to others."

"We had this deck repair done in 2019 by a contractor that didn't know what they were doing. Troy came in and expertly repaired our deck and made it safe again. He was fantastic to deal with and did a great job. We will definitely use Troy-Bilt again!"

"Cesar was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was friendly, timely, and very accommodating. He came for a free estimate within minutes of my inquiry. Afterwards, my apartment looks immaculate; base boards look brand new, bathrooms are cleaner than I’ve been able to get them, and the place just smells clean throughout. Highly recommend!"

"Master of their craft, these guys know what they’re doing. I would highly recommend them for interior work. The response time was quick, the value for the work was amazing and best of all the job done was impeccable. I’m still shocked with the quality of work they did. They take the necessary time needed, they’re organized and very precise. The work was top notch. I will go with them for any future interior work that I need. I highly recommend."

"G.W. Services pressure washed the entire house, move furniture ands plants off two decks; painted the decks, railing and strairs. They also waterproofed my shed deck and stairs. They worked quickly and efficiently. Everything was done well. And at a reasonable price. Highly recommended."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Whether to paint or stain a deck depends on your personal preference for appearance and budget. Stain provides a natural look with a range of undertones, is typically less expensive, and may only require one coat, but it does not last as long as paint. Paint offers a sleeker finish with a virtually unlimited color palette. Both options will protect your deck from outdoor elements like rain, snow, and general wear and tear.

Your tool of choice ultimately comes down to personal preference. Many DIYers prefer applying stain with a lint-free rag, but others stick with a paint brush or a roller. Wipe the stain and work it into the wood, working with and against the grain. If you’re applying multiple coats, allow the stain to dry for around four hours between coats.

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

Aftercare includes routine cleaning, checking for water repellency, and promptly addressing any chips or peels, maintaining the deck's appearance and functionality.

Yes, pressure-treated wood can occasionally turn green due to certain preservatives, such as copper-based chemicals, used during the treatment process. These chemicals react with the wood, creating a greenish tint. The good news? It's temporary, and the color will fade over time. Staining or painting can also help hide any unwanted hues.
