"My HVAC went out on New Years Day and I called several repair companies and Chirchhill was the only one to get back to me on the same day. Steve called and texted me to see what was wrong and how they could help. While on the phone I described to Steve what happened and the noises I heard prior to it going out. Steve was able to pretty much diagnose went might need to be replaced and had the part in stock! Joe came out the to my house and within 20 minutes I had heat! A few days later I called Steve back and reported to him that my heat was not working correctly (Turning on and off). Steve sent Joe back out who immediately discovered condensation inside a hose. Joe emptied out the water and left free of charge. Every works great!"

Because of the potential danger associated with incorrectly capping the gas line that serves the gas fireplace, many people will choose to hire a professional to do the work. Some homeowners may choose to hire a pro to only handle the gas line for them. They then may attempt to remove the actual insert on their own, which is a challenging—but not impossible—DIY project.

In most cases, a gas stove should be installed by a licensed plumber. Connecting gas appliances carries many risks, chief among them a fatal gas leak. If your home is already set up with the proper gas hookups, you may be able to DIY the installation (or save money by hiring a local handyperson or basic appliance installer near you rather than a plumber). For example, according to the Los Angeles Municipal Code, you’re required to hire a licensed contractor to install one whenever you build, sell, or renovate a home. Check with your local building department for your city’s laws on installing, permitting, and inspecting earthquake shut-off valves.

Only yellow Teflon tape is approved for use on gas lines. Also called yellow PTFE tape, it is thicker and specifically rated for use on natural gas and propane connections. Standard white Teflon tape is not safe for gas applications.
