Small jobs welcome

"Scott did a fantastic job installing our kitchen backsplash. It is perfect and we really appreciated his meticulous attention to detail. As a customer, we also really liked how accessible Scott is, he returns phone calls, texts back within a reasonable time, and answered all questions thoroughly."

"I was very pleased with the work and how the job turned out. I went to different places looking for the exact color scheme I wanted to match my cabinets. When measuring my kitchen the owner said he had the exact piece for me. I trusted his judgement ( tho I was nervous). The countertops were just right! After being in my house for over a year I am happier now than ever with my purchase. The guys that installed them were nice also."

"I highly recommend KITCHEN WISE Charlottesville, directed by DEB JEWELL for your kitchen cabinet projects. She did a fantastic job for us while no other cabinet makers were willing to tackle our project. We wanted to bring our cabinets to the ceiling which meant building on existing ones. Project that NOBODY in the Charlottesville/Richmond area is willing to do as they only would remove our existing cabinets to build new, and then, build all the way to the ceiling. Deb is able to think out of the box and be creative to give you the kitchen you want! We could not have done it without her. Moreover she does not overcharge for her work. She bills fairly. Would be happy to share pictures!â ¤ï¸"

"From day 1, they were extremely responsive and professional. The started building the cabinets when they said they would and had them finished ahead of schedule. The work was excellent quality and install was great and quick. They allowed me to keep my existing cabinets and expand the kitchen instead of having to do a total gut job. While the cabinets are not super cheap - you get what you pay for! Well worth every penny. The painter they recommended did a great job."

Cabinet Making FAQs, answered by experts

You aren’t obligated to tip cabinet contractors, but you can choose to do so if they went above and beyond and you want to show your gratitude. This is usually something in the ballpark of 10% to 15% of your total cost. As an alternative, you can provide snacks and drinks for workers and/or offer to serve as a reference for prospective customers.

The time it takes to install new cabinets depends on the scope of the project. For a kitchen installation, you can expect the process to take anywhere from 2-5 days for a standard layout up to a couple of weeks for more complex projects, depending on the number of cabinets and the installation space. For a smaller project, such as installing cabinets in a bathroom, you can expect the work to take a week or less. Your cabinet installation expert will be able to provide you with a realistic timeframe.

Costs range from $3,000 to $8,000, depending on the material, design, and number of cabinets.

Frameless cabinets fit the space-saving, minimalist attributes of European-style kitchens more than face frame models. That also makes them a good pick for apartments and dorms, as well as any more modern-style kitchen.

Yes, you can replace the cabinet hardware after installation to change up the look of your cabinets. Replacing the hinges, handles, pulls, and knobs allows you the design flexibility to match your other appliances or finish schemes to your liking. Talk with your kitchen designer or cabinet installer about the best hardware option for your cabinets.
