"Big huge thank you to Blake at Roanoke River Cabinetry for a quick turnaround on my beautiful new kitchen! The quote process was very smooth - Blake returned my call promptly and scheduled a time to measure and hear my wishlist which included new cabinets, the removal of a wall, and the addition of an island. He made great suggestions after he listened to what I wanted. The appointment was quick, and when I received my itemized quote and layout drawings, I was happy to see that everything we discussed was included at a price I thought was fair and reasonable. I was told a timeframe of when the work would start when I accepted the quote, and it started on time. Tim, the contractor, and his assistant Karen were WONDERFUL and did great work. I was happy to have them in my home. I highly recommend Roanoke River Cabinetry. So many things can become a problem if you don't have an experienced team; Blake has good people working with him. However, it's essential to take your time, at least on the first few, to get the hang of it.

Whether it’s better to stain or paint old cabinets depends on your situation, as each option has pros and cons. Paint offers a smooth, modern look, while stain highlights the natural wood grain for a charming, rustic look. Painting cabinets may cost about 15% more than staining cabinets. While paint tends to be more durable against damage because of its thick coating, stained cabinets hide inevitable dings and scratches better than paint.

Standard kitchen cabinet drawers measure between 12 and 36 inches wide, 24 inches deep, and between 4 and 10 inches tall. Drawers are designed to fit with your cabinets, so a 36-inch-wide cabinet would have a 36-inch-wide drawer. The finished height of your cabinet should be 34 ½ inches to the top for a base cabinet, so if you have a 4-inch deep drawer, the cabinet below will be 30 ½ inches tall.
