"Working with the company itself was a good experience. The subcontractor (“the boss”) however left a lot to be desired. Overall they did a good job thanks to Marlone (one of the workers) who noticed the the things that didn’t look good and fixed them. We love our screened in porch and are enjoying our days and evenings bug free."

"Donnell reinforced our 30 plus year old deck and brought it up to today's code by putting in cement pilings and replacing the support columns. He also added sturdier support beams. In addition he put in a paver patio to replace the gravelled area at the base of the steps."

"Kingdom Construction is a Christian-owned company with complete integrity. Their prices are fair, employees professional and polite, and work was completed on time with the yard looking great when they left. I'd hire them again for any construction or removal services."

"Always get additional estimates for any work you need done. The Town & Country salesman was a smooth talker who could sell snowballs to Eskimos & we believed his every word without obtaining additional estimates. We soon realized he would say anything to get a signed contract. Our project took them 6 months in 2018 from date of contract until finished. We still have a few issues that we notified them about some time back. The owner of the business never returned to inspect the completed work. The worker guys were nice & seemed very well qualified for the job. They also did a good job of hauling away the old deck material."

"A & Romero was responsive, on time, and completed my deck repairs within 2 days at a very reasonable price. They went above and beyond with quality of repairs, and never deviated from the original price agreement. I would happily hire them again, and actually did for additional projects at my house."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

To maximize the utility of space under a deck, it’s important to keep this area dry and clean. One way to prevent the area from becoming too wet is to install an under-deck draining system. This affordable home upgrade channels water away from the deck and provides usable space for storage or a functional area below a second-story deck. Not only will this be a useful maintenance upgrade, it can boost your home’s property value.

While the terms deck and porch are often used interchangeably, they are two distinct structures. A porch is a covered structure, usually attached to the front of a home, that offers protection from the elements. In contrast, a deck is an open, uncovered platform, often attached to the back or side of a home. Because porches have a roof, they typically require less maintenance than decks, but both features need regular cleaning and repairs to stay in good condition.

You do not have to dig footers for a deck as long as it meets local code and holds up to weather in your area. If you live somewhere that experiences high winds and earthquakes, you may need to dig for your deck posts. Deck blocks, post anchors with base plates, and helical pile systems are the three no-dig deck post options you can choose from if local code permits.

Most building codes list a minimum width of 36 inches and a maximum height of 7¾ inches. However, for the most comfort and spaciousness, you’ll want to aim for a width of at least 48 inches and a height of 7 inches. Again, it’s always a good idea to base your numbers off steps that you already use comfortably.

PVC decking might be long-lasting, but this synthetic material lacks the natural aesthetic or sustainability of wood decking. If you want to match your decking to your new garden furniture or just freshen up the faded surface, it’s not usually possible to paint PVC decking. When comparing PVC to composite decking, PVC is pricier and more prone to warping in hot regions.
