"Calixto has taken care of my lawn for seven years and I hope they will continue to do so. Their rates are fair and their people are very thorough and reliable. They are also very courteous and respectful of our property, even when we forget to put hoses and tools out of their way. My daughter got some chickens this year so I hope they will be able to accommodate her request when I hear back from them. As well as lawn work they have also cleaned my gutters and I plan to have them do that again as well."

"I was having a hard time getting companies to respond or follow up, but not with Rapidan Farm. We Talked through the yard grading project and I was provided pricing, expert opinion and during the project they provided updates to ensure it was on target. Wrapping up the project I was given the opportunity to provide feedback and request additional work if not to my satisfaction. Results of the grading were as expected with fantastic customer service!"

"They were a pleasure to work with. They were able to get grass grow in our yard where we havenâ t been able to. They also seeded our horse pastures and we along with our horses are very satisfied. They seem to know exactly what they are doing and deliver what they say they will. Would recommend them highly."

"The job was done quickly and efficiently. I was present when the team did the site preparation. I observed a lot of the work out of curiosity. They worked well as a team. Deliveries of the septic tank and materials for the drain field arrived on time and in coordination with the work being done. Several tactical decisions were made regarding the installation of the drain field to speed up the job in an effort to remain ahead of the weather. This gave them time to fill in the trenches, smooth the surface, plant seed that we requested, and cover the seed with straw before the rain came. Otherwise, we would have had a muddy mess. Well done!"

Depending on the areas that a lawn care company specializes in, most companies offer a core set of services that usually include:
Mowing
Mulch
Tree trimming and pruning
Pest control
Landscaping
Leaf removal
Spring and fall cleanup
Shrub trimming and pruning
Check with local lawn care companies to confirm that they offer the services you’re looking for.
The average cost to mow a lawn is about $125, ranging between $50 and $200 per cutting, depending on yard size. Other cost factors include the shape of your lawn, accessibility, lawn health, type of grass, length of grass, and frequency of the mowing schedule. The cost to cut your grass will also vary depending on where you live. If your landscaper has to maneuver around obstacles or deal with hard to reach areas and steep slopes, this will likely increase your total mowing costs.
Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:
Location
Yard size
Project size
Materials
Land preparation
Type of landscaping
Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000.
