"Job went well, i was there most of the time. I did have to run out but they were still at it when i returned. Both men were professional and used shoe booties when walking inside the house. I had just bought the house and and was having headaches daily, my face and my sons skin would get itchy from being in the house. The previous owners had cats and allergies are a big deal for myself and son. Ducts were pretty filthy with debris sitting right in the duct openings. I was told i would get before and after pics of all the ducts. Pics were taken and shown to me before the job started. I never received the after so i cant say 100% how well they are cleaned. I asked for them on 2 different occasions through email and never received them. I can say that the headaches went away, the smell of the home was much improved and no more itching. But again, the service says before AND after.

Air Duct Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Some homes in warmer locations have air vents in the ceiling because they do a better job of cooling than floor vents. This is because hot air rises and cool air sinks. Homes located in cooler climates tend to have vents in the floor because they do a better job of delivering warm air, which rises.

Yes, air duct cleaning can remove mold from the interior lines of HVAC systems. Professional air duct cleaning companies use tools and methods like brushes, cleaners, and vacuums to remove mold from air ducts. For successful mold remediation, it is essential to hire a reputable and experienced air duct cleaning service. Keeping your air ducts clean can also help prevent the conditions that allow mold to grow and thrive in your ductwork.

The timeline for smoke damage remediation can range from a single day to several months, depending on the extent of the damage, the size of the affected area, and the methods used. For minor damage, such as removing cigarette smoke odors from a single room, the process might take only one to two days and typically involves deep cleaning, painting, and sealing walls. Some methods, like ozone treatments, can take 24 to 48 hours, though multiple treatments may be necessary. More extensive smoke damage, such as from a house fire, can take three weeks or longer to clean and treat. If significant material restoration or replacement is needed, the timeline can extend to six to 12 months. A smoke damage restoration professional can provide a more accurate estimate for your specific situation.

No, not all houses have ducts. It would be safe to say, however, that most modern houses do. The reason is that older houses had boilers in the basement that heated from the bottom up and often vents weren’t built into the house. Another reason is that older homes don’t have air conditioning (because it didn’t exist) and use radiators for heating. Since radiators don’t require ductwork, it wasn’t built.

There are a few things you can do to help maintain healthy indoor air quality during construction. First, section off the area of your home where the work is taking place by hanging plastic sheets over doors to contain dust. Second, cover the vents in the construction zone using plastic sheets to prevent dust from entering into your ducts and circulating throughout your home. Finally, consider installing an air purifier that can scrub any stray particles out before you breathe them in.
