"I had an emergency situation that I needed a tree removed. After speaking with multiple tree removal service companies, Barry Collins was the only one who seemed interested. He came out that evening to make sure things would be safe until he could return in the morning. He gave me a reasonably quoted price! Him and his crew arrived exactly when he said they would. He was very polite and respectful. He even called a week later to follow up and make sure everything was going okay."

"They did an excellent job! They were very professional beginning with the person answering the phone to all of the crew, and really quite delightful. I was very pleased with the results and the price was the best out of the 4 people that I called. I would highly recommend them."

"I was not pleased with their service and I won't use them again. He gave me a quote and by the end of the job he added $22.00 more to the bill because he said my deck took more things than he needed. I had to get them back because they got stuff all over my house. They did come get it off but the progress of trying to get stuff out of them was hard. I felt they could have done a better job with the deck. They were a little sloppy and I don't think they covered it well."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Leaving a significant amount of snow on your roof can be risky. Most roofs are designed to handle about 20 pounds per square foot of snow, but exceeding this limit can lead to a roof collapse. A collapse can cause severe damage to your home and belongings and poses a physical danger to anyone inside. Furthermore, heavy snow accumulation increases the risk of ice dams, which can cause leaks and water damage to your roof, attic, and interior walls.

Be careful when choosing a product to help you remove ice from your wood deck. Never use sand, gravel, or salt, since these items can damage and scratch the wood. Instead, look for chemical de-icers that are marked as safe for wood decks or use hot water to melt snow and ice.

Roof raking helps clear snowfall from your roof and, in turn, you hope that this prevents ice dams. But can roof raking actually cause them? Generally, no, it cannot. But you should note that while, in some cases, you might successfully prevent ice dams from forming near the edge of your roof by keeping it cleared with a roof rake, they could still form higher up on the roof, where you are unable to reach. This may leave you wondering: Does roof raking prevent ice dams? While it is not a 100% guaranteed way to prevent them, it does help.

If a big freeze catches you by surprise and you don’t have any deicer to hand, you can reduce the chance of taking a tumble by laying gritty, anti-slip materials. Some natural, readily-available options that don’t melt ice but offer traction underfoot include sand, wood shavings, kitty litter, and fireplace ash.

In most cases, it is best to leave icicles on your roof and allow them to melt naturally. You should only consider removing them if they are heavy enough to cause damage to your home or pose a risk to people below. Since removing icicles can be dangerous, it is recommended to hire a professional for the job if you have immediate concerns. To prevent the issue from recurring, you should address the underlying cause, such as improving your home's insulation or installing roof heating coils.
