"DO NOT use them for gutters! They simply charge you more and contract out the job but they do not inspect or guarantee the work. Went with Smallwood because of their reviews - thought I was going with a reputable company but it entire process has been frustrating .. time consuming and extremely disappointing . ( not to mention costly) In August we contacted Smallwood for gutter replacement. We decided to get new gutters, down spouts ( 19 feet front 19 feet back) and guards( back of townhome only as suggested by sales person ) for our town home and I paid for new fascia upfront to avoid the additional “surprise” charges that often come with gutter installation - very simple straightforward job with a price tag of $2300 - that is $57 dollars per square feet This is an exceptionally high rate even for fascia, gutters and 19 feet of leaf guard but even though the estimate was higher than the others we received - we wanted to make sure the job was done correctly due to past experiences and we went with Smallwood because the salesperson assured us we would get quality.. stress free work from a reputable family owned business. The estimate was relatively quick and easy - but It took multiple phone calls ( from me not them ) to schedule the work and over a month to complete the job.. and it was done by two different groups of workers. The taking down of old gutters ( this crew left over 30 nails in and around my home- which I had to remove because we have pets that can’t wait to go outside) and 2 different stages of repair means we had no gutters while waiting for the actual installation!! Once they finally completed the job - they reached out immediately for final payment ( the most efficient part of this job ) We noticed quickly that the front gutters leaked - ( not just dripping but pouring down the front of our house ) I contacted Smallwood and they assured us they would send someone out to check the problem. They also asked us to send pics and video ( which I did) .. I did not hear back so I contacted Smallwood again. They said they sent someone ? And he did not see a problem. I reminded them about the video.. 3 weeks later no response.. reached out yet again and this time was told that it the roof was installed without proper over hang so I would need a drip guard or leaf guard to move the water in to the gutter. for 19feet?? I asked if this issue was so obvious why didn’t they repair during the installation? No reason given but they did offer to fix the issue for $700 (due to their minimal charge policy) then promptly send a lower estimate of $400 ( so I would believe they were doing me a favor!!!!) It is Feb now and I still don’t have a resolution - I’m going to call another company for repair.. not giving Smallwood another penny of my money Red flags: * they do not give you an itemized estimate - so for example if your NEW gutters leak they can say the problem wasn’t included Even the receipt is not itemized! Beware! * contracting the work out ( just go with the less expensive company ) * the sales pitch about family owned and operated doesn’t help if they don’t have decent values or practice good customer service!"

"The project started out with an expected completion date of 2 weeks. The workers initially showed up erratically then gradually tapered off. Additional damage was found that was apparently there long before we bought the house in 2016 but we were told any further work would need be stopped until we were able to finance an additional $10,000 + leaving other areas of the floor and insulation unfinished. We were also expected to pay costs outside of the terms of the original contract or threatened with a lien on our home. We asked the contractor come back and complete the flooring up to the area the area of additional repairs with the agreement to prepay to make it safer for our toddler while we were in the process of refinancing our house to be able to pay for the additional repairs. Mr. Hammond has only contacted us through email taking up to several days for a response and refused to return any of our calls or text messages then mostly recently advised us that he had larger more time consuming jobs to complete and didn't know when he could get back to our job and suggested we hire another contractor."
