"Mick and his crew were awesome from start to finish! Mick was very knowledgeable and willing to help us understand everything we needed to know and do to get our new granite countertops. We appreciated his honesty as we discussed our options. We always felt well taken care of and he answered all of our questions. Our counters turned out fantastic and will not hesitate to use Mick again when we are ready to upgrade other areas of our house!"

"If I could give Westshore homes and their installers, 10 stars, I would! From start to finish, they were very professional. Let me know what was going on cleaned up after themselves and half the time I didn't even remember that they were here. Chris D, and Cody K were awesome. We live in a 1924 home that was flipped after the owners that had lived there for 20 plus years moved out, and we weren't sure what we were going to find! we have lived in the home for three years, and the projects we have undertaken have always had an issue. Westshore takes everything to the studs, and we found some amazing (to me) things such as an original window that had been been covered up and had ivy vines (dead now) that had grown up and through them. The house was is brick, but has had siding put on. We were not even aware that there had been a window. The bathroom floor under the tub was not level. The plumbing was wonky including having the hot and cold switched. They had to level the floor after putting the new subfloor on several inches on one side so the shower floor would be level. Again, everything was done with the highest professionalism. They called us over to inspect many times, and made sure we were happy with how things were going. I would definitely use Westshore again if the need arises. The warranty is definitely a plus."

"Completely gutted our kitchen and rearranged where the sink and oven went, We put up an Ikea kitchen and it looks amazing they did a great job. We were please with most of the subcontractors he hired, particularly the guys for the awning(porch) and the floor.  Dan was very professional handling any issues we had and stuck to his word. There were a few times where the style or the design we wanted wasn't available and he anticipated our needs spectacularly.  We will definitely be holding on to his card."

"Steve performed this task exceptionally. He worked alone on a task that required two to three people. He assembled a very complex Murphy Bed. It looks beautiful! He also had to deal with some product non-comformities that he reworked and now they are not noticeable. I highly recommend Steve to perform outstandingly in any task asked of him."

"The crew tackling my patio flooring were hard working, efficient and very courteous. My patio looks beautiful. I would highly recommend this Legacy Pavers team. Side note: They were really kind to my annoying puppies and made me feel like they enjoyed working at my house and helping me out!"

Stone Countertops questions, answered by experts

Yes, but you will need the proper gas or electric lines running to the island. You will also need to factor in the costs of a range hood, also known as an extractor. There are several styles to choose from. An island extractor is a chimney-style range hood that hangs from the ceiling directly above your cooktop. A ceiling extractor fits flush into your ceiling above your cooktop, so it is less noticeable and allows for island extensions, such as hanging pot racks.

For a completely unobtrusive hood, you can choose a downdraft extractor. It is built into the island and can be raised when needed. Its downside is that it takes up space in the island’s cabinets. A venting cooktop is built into the cooktop, and it too takes up cabinet space.

Choosing the right countertop material means balancing price, quality, and budget. However, there are a few popular high-end choices when it comes to countertops that many homeowners use to elevate their bathroom aesthetic:

There are three main downsides to quartzite: the cost, the porosity, and the weight. As a natural stone, there’s a level of scarcity that can drive up the price of certain types of quartzite. Even more common varieties are less affordable than synthetic materials like laminate and other natural stones like granite.

You’ll also have to reseal your quartzite countertop annually to combat the natural porosity and reinforce your cabinets to account for the added weight.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

Cultured stone is typically easier to cut compared to natural stone. Because it’s lightweight and porous, cutting cultured stone doesn't take as much effort. The process of cutting cultured and natural stone is the same; however, you may spend more time cutting through natural stone.
