"We contacted ECO insulation because we wanted to improve the comfort of our home year-round. Kris inspected our attic and discovered that our insulation was below where it should have been following the original build and that there were several areas that were not sealed. We were wasting money via our less efficient insulation and energy use. ECO sealed all areas, increased the insulation, and we noticed our AC ran less immediately and kept our home cooler longer on our first 101-degree day. Thanks, Kris. We highly recommend your company and work."

Small jobs welcome

"Streamline installed a garage ventilation system and attic insulation above our garage, would definitely use them again. Great people and service. Happy with the install, had questions a few days later and the representative was at our home in about 30 minutes. Highly recommended"

"these folks did blown insulation for me , that went well. The problem I'm having is getting documentation to submit a rebate claim to Dominion energy. Just can't seem to get it right. Haven't given up yet. Also ask about a small gutter fix and was told on its own wasn't worth there time, however if they were in the area on another job it could be. The price I was given was more than a previous job approximately 3 times larger. Same company installed. Little frustrating."

"Good work, fair price. Only complaint is they did not call me to set up an installation appointment. They just showed up one morning ready to install the insulation. It worked out because I was home anyway. I would gladly use them again but I would make sure they schedule an appointment."

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

"They came when they said they would and did a great job prepping the house before starting. Overall they did a great job with the foam but left several places that were bulging out beyond the studs. When notified about this, they came right out and trimmed the excess away. I would recommend this company."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

STC (Sound Transmission Class) is a rating that describes how well a building material or assembly blocks airborne sound. A higher STC rating means less noise will pass through the material, providing better sound reduction. This rating system applies to various building components, including windows, doors, flooring, drywall, and insulation.

For context, a typical single-pane window has an STC rating of around 25 (where normal conversations are audible), while a well-sealed, double-pane window can exceed STC 45 (blocking loud speech and most music). It is important to note that for some products, like soundproofing drywall, the STC rating refers to the entire wall system, not just the individual panel.

Additionally, STC ratings are most effective for measuring sound reduction at mid-to-high frequencies, such as human speech, and may not accurately reflect how well a material blocks low-frequency sounds like bass music or thunder. Because of these factors, it is recommended to consult a professional to determine the right STC-rated materials for your specific soundproofing needs.

Although the cost might seem high, winterizing your home is important for your health and the structural integrity of your home. Winterizing will keep your home warm and toasty during the cold months and prolong the life of your appliances, windows, pipes, sprinkler system, pool, and more.

A vapor barrier can last over 20 years, but they are vulnerable to pests, flooding, and other natural disasters. If your home weathers a storm or is treated for any pest infestation, make sure to have a drywall pro come check the integrity of your vapor barrier. It’s also important to have a pro install a vapor barrier since improper installation can lead to tears or leaks in the barrier that shorten its lifespan.

The cost to install or upgrade insulation generally ranges from $1.50 to $4.00 per square foot. The final price depends on factors such as the type of insulation chosen, the total area to be covered (home size), and local labor costs.

The level of insulation is determined by both the material and the thickness of the door. Some garage door materials (such as wood) have natural insulating capabilities, while other materials (such as metal) do not. No matter the material, two-layer and three-layer garage doors have a higher R-value than single-layer garage doors, as insulation is fitted between the panels.
