"Our dishwasher was installed incorrectly and some of the trim needed to be sanded down for it to fit properly. Bourbon Barrel Woodworks was able to do the job properly and smaller jobs in the kitchen as well at a fair price. He came when he said he would and everything was seamless. I would highly recommend."

I'm a military veteran, I've worked with my hands all my life. I own rental properties and figure there are people in the area that could use my skills. I'm available in the evenings. I've done light carpentry, building furniture, repair sprinklers, lawn and light landscaping, gardening, toilet repairs, garbage disposal installation, pest control, all kinds of stuff. I've installed electrical fixtures, and I can accomplish project management. I've installed water softener too. I'm willing to do the small jobs that only take an evening or two.

"Walter was polite, professional, and provided quality work. He walked me through options, explained the steps, and took pictures of the work. He maintained communication throughout the process, was on time and even followed up to ensure I didn't have any additional problems. He repaired a leak in my roof and water damage, replaced a light fixture, and finished am outdoor kitchen project. Ive already referred him to neighbors and plan on contacting him for any future projects. Refreshing experience with a contractor!"

"My cabinets needed a major makeover so I reached out to Justin. The pricing was within my budget and he was able to accommodate my schedule. Iâ m going to keep this very simple and straightforward. Justin did AMAZING work. My cabinets look brand new which have given my house a much needed facelift. He was very professional, on time and a pleasure to do business with. He saved me thousands! Iâ ve had friends ask me if they were brand new, theyâ re that gorgeous. Iâ ve already rehired him to do my parents home in the Upper Valley."

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing FAQs, answered by experts

You can modernize an old-looking closet by just painting it, but beyond that, consider electric elements like recessed or accent lighting. If this is a large and deep closet, you can consider adding an island to the middle or a nice ottoman on a rug. Luxury closets will have even more items, like felt-lined drawers for watches and jewelry, in-wall safes, electronic shoe storage, or a tablet catalog of their items.

Common materials used for cabinet refacing include laminate, wood veneers, and thermofoil. These offer varied aesthetic options and durability levels, depending on your budget.

On average, a kitchen remodel costs around $27,000, with a typical price range between $14,700 and $41,400. However, the total cost can vary significantly based on the project's scope, material quality, geographic location, and whether you change the kitchen's layout.

A small-scale remodel can cost between $3,500 and $20,000. This may include painting walls, refacing or refinishing cabinets, upgrading one or two appliances, and installing a new sink and faucet.

A large-scale, high-end remodel that overhauls the entire kitchen by moving walls, changing plumbing and electrical, and installing all new components can cost from $70,000 to $130,000 or more.

Yes, replacing cabinet doors only as part of a cabinet refacing project. During the cabinet-refacing process, the doors and drawers are typically replaced, while the cabinet boxes themselves are covered with a veneer or laminate. If you’re content with the look of the cabinet boxes, however, you can simply swap out the doors to save money on labor and materials.

Whether to reface or paint comes down to personal preference. Refacing strikes a convenient balance between being more affordable than replacing cabinets and longer-lasting than painting them. Furthermore, it allows homeowners to completely change the aesthetic of their cabinets and still paint them if they choose to. If money was no object, refacing is the better option. However, it’s more expensive and time-consuming than painting. Painting remains an effective way to revamp your cabinets, both in look and longevity, without spending a ton of money.
