The tinting not only adds a sleek look to my windows but also provides the privacy and UV protection I was looking for. I can't wait to see the benefits on my electric bill as the tinting is expected to help with energy efficiency as well! I highly recommend Sunshades Window Tint for their top-notch service and quality workmanship!"

"I was very happy with the service they provided. My front door has shouthern exposure and the leaded glass in the door let in UV rays which bleached my area rug and also bleached the engineered wood floors. American Tintters came promptly when they scheduled the appointment. Although I could get a kit and Home Depot, I could not have done as good a job with the thin film used to tint my door window. I recommend hiring American Tinters."

"Toby was nice enough to come, showed us his samples, and give an estimate.   However the options were very limited and the proposal was a simple email without the company?s name.  When we asked the addresses of homes to drive by and see the product, we were told that the type of window determines how the window tint looks.  May be true,  pictures are posted but we like to have an
idea of what the product looks like.

Window Tinting questions, answered by experts

Do not use Windex or any glass cleaner when applying window film. These products contain ammonia, which will damage the film. Instead, use the application solution provided with the installation kit. If there is no solution, make your own using 1 teaspoon of baby shampoo and a gallon of bottled water.

Expert installation optimizes insulation properties, cutting energy costs and enhancing home comfort year-round.

Tinting reduces glare, blocks UV rays, enhances privacy, and improves energy efficiency.

If your window film doesn’t come with an installation kit and its own application solution, you can make your own—but don’t use soap! Instead, use 1 teaspoon of baby shampoo mixed with a gallon of bottled water. Make sure the bucket in which you mix this solution is completely clean.

The most popular tint percentage for home windows is 35%. Generally, most homeowners choose a visible light transmission (VLT) between 50% and 35%, where lower numbers mean less sunlight enters the home. A 35% tint blocks over half the incoming light while still allowing plenty of natural light, which can improve energy efficiency and comfort. If privacy is a primary concern, you can opt for a tint of 50% or lower to make it more difficult for people to see inside. However, keep in mind that very dark, thick tints may offer fewer energy-efficiency benefits.

Unlike cars, there are no laws regulating window tint percentages on homes, so you can choose what you think is best. It is often a good idea to hire a professional, as they can show you samples of how different tint levels will look in your specific property, helping you make the right choice.
