When there’s too much chlorine in your pool, you might experience symptoms like nausea, dizziness, and vomiting. Excessive chlorine can also give you a skin rash and irritate your eyes, throat, and nose. If your pool’s chlorine level is too high, turn off your chlorinator or chlorine feeder (if you have one). You can also remove the cover and let sunlight hit the water, which naturally reduces chlorine levels.

The type of service will usually be the most significant cost factor, as opening and closing a pool takes a few hours and can total $400 or more, while regular cleanings could cost under $100. The size of your pool and the type of pool—above-ground, in-ground, saltwater—can also affect the price of maintenance.

Setting up a pool on unlevel ground can damage the pool or yard and put the safety of those using the pool at risk. The pool liner can tear if it isn’t flat, or the walls may collapse from added pressure. If part of the pool gives in to the pressure and comes down, the swimmers inside could get hurt.
