"Mark made an appointment and came by to see what projects I needed done. We agreed on a start date and he arrived on time bringing his son as his helper.  The first day, they worked from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the fence and cleaned up everything before leaving.  They returned the next day and worked from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Mark is a perfectionist and his attention to detail is remarkable. Before he left my house, everything was cleaned up, swept, and all extra wood was cut to size for the garbage pick up. He agreed to return for other projects.

"Good work in a reasonable amount of time, and trustworthy. Expect some possible minor broken items such as electrical wall plates, as they need to remove all items from the walls in order to do the job well. In my opinion, it was forgivable as it speaks to their thoroughness in the painting process. Just plan for it. Overall, I would hire them again."

"Painter stopped paint about 1" above carpet on all baseboards. Had to go around and correct. Accent wall next to wall painted white had to go and adjust painting to have even lines. Several spots of paint on carpet that had to clean up; paint on door knobs which I cleaned up. Requested ceiling to be retextured where it was peeling up, instead contractor scraped the ceiling and painted it. There are areas that are still needing address on ceiling which I will correct. I failed to remove the blinds in a window contractor removed blind and layed on floor and they were stepped on. Ended up with a slat being broken. Office personnel did call and request I make sure I was happy before staff departed."

"My husband is very ill and the first thing he wanted was a shower, but we did not have a handicap shower, so I called Phillip and he came over right away, gave me an estimate and started right away.  He called later and told me the glass was going to cost more, but my husband will not be with us much longer so I don't care how much it costs, he wants a shower.  It took several days and I was impressed with the work his man was doing.  The next thing was painting my office.  He had 3 men come in and do the work.  They were very neat, cleaned up afterwards and did an excellent job.  I kept thinking of more things I wanted done, so as they finished one project, I added another.  They did an excellent job on each project.  Phillip was in and out frequently checking with me and checking on his men.  Everything is finished except installing the glass for the shower and the "glass man" will do that shortly.
He is not cheap, but if you want it done right the first time, Phillip's crew can do it.  AND, I have learned the hard way "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR."
I highly recommend Phillip Warwick, Houston Repair and Remodeling.

"I was very impressed by how quickly they responded to my request for an estimate to paint my house. They inspected my job the very day I requested an estimate. After they were chosen for the job, they started the job within two days and the job was finished in one day. In addition to the spray washing, caulking and painting, they cleaned or removed my gutters (at my request) and fixed a damaged area under the eave. Very satisfied with their work and will definitely use them again! They also perform other construction work and I have requested an estimate from they for another job."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

You shouldn’t need extra adhesive for peel-and-stick backsplash tile. The adhesive on the back of the tile sheets should do the trick. However, if you experience issues with the tile peeling or falling off, make sure the wall you’re working on isn’t textured, as that can prevent the materials from properly adhering.

Textured or patterned vinyl wallpaper designs are the best option for hiding imperfections. Embossed designs or faux finishes like brick, wood, or linen textures are especially effective at camouflaging dents, cracks, or uneven surfaces. Avoid smooth, shiny finishes, as they can highlight flaws rather than conceal them.

The average cost to install or hang wallpaper is around $575 per room or project, with typical prices ranging from $200 to $1,500. Costs can be higher for custom or luxury products. Since project size varies, it's often helpful to estimate labor costs per square foot, which generally fall between $1 and $7, with an average of $4 per square foot. The total cost depends on several factors, including the quality and type of wallpaper, the size and type of the room, and whether old wallpaper must be removed first. Opting for less expensive materials like peel-and-stick wallpaper or choosing to do the installation yourself can lower the overall cost. For the most accurate estimate, it is best to have a professional inspect the space and provide a quote.

Hanging wallpaper may seem simple, but in practice it requires significant planning and finesse to make it look professional. To start, you need to get an even application of wallpaper paste across all of your wallpaper, which requires experience and large pasting tables to get right. You also need to plan out your design and match it exactly so that you don’t have imperfections in the finished product. It’s often better to hire a professional wallpaper hanger who can get the job done properly for a clean, smooth finish.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.
