The job involved removal of the asphalt shingles and then remove the old wood shakes roof that was underneath the asphalt shingles. Quite a job with a lot of labor just to remove the old roof. After removing the old roof, then installed a new roof deck of OSB with radiant barrier, premium felt, premium shingles, upgraded ridge, new drip edge, metal valleys, new lead roof jacks and vents, and a new custom chimney cap made to match the original that was damaged by the hail. They also improved the attic ventilation by adding additional soffit vents. Very nice job with good workmanship. Good cleanup after the work. Had a couple of very minor cosmetic issues and they returned quickly and fixed them. Robert Ross, the salesman, was great, kept us informed all along the way, answered any questions, and was always available by cell phone and email, and really stayed on top of the job to make sure everything was as it should be. He initiated frequent follow-ups with us to make sure we were completely satisfied. Gavin Weathersby at Clear Choice Roofing is solidly in the second category. Gavin?s crew repaired some rotted fascia boards on my home last year that were the result of a poorly installed roof (by a ?Storm-Chaser? type roofing company) a few years earlier. His crew did an outstanding job, at a fair price.
I called Gavin again a few weeks later to fix a leak on the roof over my back door that only occurred during hard rains. Gavin?s crew discovered the previous roofer had not installed a rubber underlayment in the roof valley and that was causing the leak during heavy storms. They installed the underlayment material and new shingles and that problem was corrected quickly and at minimal cost.
A couple of months later I called again, with another leak in a different part of my roof. This one proved more difficult to trace. It appeared to originate around a bathroom exhaust vent but actually it was coming in from somewhere else. Unfortunately due to the radiant barrier installed under the roof joists, it was very difficult to tell where the actual leak was. Gavin?s crew came out two more times, each time replacing more shingles and the second time even replacing the attic exhaust fan next to the bathroom exhaust vent. At no time during any of my calls was he or his staff ever discourteous or snappy, and I was only charged for the repair the first time, not on subsequent call-backs, regardless of what else was done. I should note also that his repair crews were always professional and courteous and never acted ?put-out? to be working on a call-back type job. They were really just trying to find and fix the leak permanently.
The last time I called was after the heavy storms in early April; there was still water coming in around the bathroom exhaust vent. It was greatly reduced, but still leaked a bit during the hardest part of the storm. I waited a couple of days after the storm and emailed Gavin. I explained that unfortunately the roof was still leaking a small bit and when he had time, would he contact me. I knew after the storms & tornadoes that there would be many people with greater roofing problems than mine, so I wasn?t trying to get to the head of the line. To my surprise, he called me about half an hour after I sent my email and said, ?I?ve never really liked your roof. The last roofer did such a poor job on it that you?ll never really be satisfied with it. Why don?t you let me put a new roof on for you?? I said, ?that would be nice, how much?? This is where things slipped off into the Twilight Zone. Gavin said, ?Nothing, I?ll replace it at no cost to you. I want you to know that all roofer?s aren?t crooks, and when I say I?ll fix a leak, I?ll fix it, no matter what.? I kept waiting for the ?But? part of the conversation, where the strings are always attached. That never happened, there were no strings. Gavin meant exactly what he said.
Three weeks later, his crews arrived on a Wednesday morning early and worked all day until about 8:00 PM that evening. They tore off the two layers of shingles already on my roof, installed new underlayment, tar paper, and flashing and good quality 30 year shingles that I chose from a reputable manufacturer. In addition, they installed new ridge venting in place of the three attic exhaust fans I had previously. AND it looks great! Much, much, better than the previous job. The bill for all of that? Nothing. Gavin is a man of his word. He replaced my roof, including materials, at no cost to me. His only request was that I let other people know that there ARE honest roofers out there who will do a good job for their customers. In my opinion, Gavin Weathersby, is at the top of that list. I originally chose his company for my initial roofing repairs based on his many positive reviews on Angie?s List. I continued to contract with him based on the quality of his work afterwards. I am very glad that I did. If you choose Clear Choice Roofing to repair or replace your roof, I think you?ll be glad you did also."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/fort-worth/clear-choice-roofing-reviews-6227384.htm"},"position":10}]}

WOW! What an experience from the beginning with removal of the old to the finished new roof. This was one of the most professional crews that I have every worked with from being early to the job to the cleanup at the end of each day and the final cleanup.

Staz-On Roofing repaired my roof nine years ago and again this month because of hail damage. This time they also replaced my gutters. They were easy to work with, answered all my questions and did a great job both times. I am glad to have a roofer to call on when I need one.

FAQs for roof ice and snow removal projects in Paradise, TX
Generally, snow removal from a roof should occur once over six inches of snow accumulates, especially if you notice that ice dams have formed. Without ice dams, you can let the snow accumulation hit 12 inches before removing it. However, the amount of snow that is too much for your roof also depends on the sturdiness of your roof and the compactness of the snow. If your roof needs maintenance or has structural issues, it’s best not to let the snow accumulate too much for fear of collapsing.
While it is possible to remove snow from your roof without a professional, we don’t recommend it. Accessing your roof can be a dangerous task; pair that with slippery ice and snow that can be heavy to move, and you have a very risky problem on your hands. This dangerous situation becomes more high-risk when there’s a snowstorm or your roof has a steep pitch. To ensure that everyone stays safe, be sure to call a roof snow removal specialist to complete this job with the proper tools and equipment.
While removing every snowflake from your roof is unnecessary, you should remove a significant buildup of snow. Since snow is wet and heavy, it can easily cause damage to your roof, which can lead to needing costly repairs.
Additionally, when the snow melts but has nowhere to go and refreezes, it can create an ice dam, causing mold concerns due to water leaking into your attic and ceiling. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a snow removal professional to clear heavy snowfall from your roof as soon as possible.
Yes, some homeowners insurance policies cover roof damage caused by snow. However, these full or partial payouts can vary depending on the age of your roof and other related factors, like the overall condition it was in before the snowfall. It’s best to check with your specific homeowners insurance policy to determine snow damage coverage and exclusions.
The cost of removing snow from a roof averages between $300 and $700. However, this cost can range from $200 to $3,000, depending on the size of your roof, the amount of snow, and roof accessibility.
Since snowfall can range from light powder to heavy and condensed snow, part of the price of roof snow removal depends on the amount and type of snow. For 12 inches of snow, you can expect to pay between $200 and $2,000 for this job. However, for 24 inches of snow, that price rises to $300 to $3,000.
