"I hired John and his crew to paint the interior of our church, they finished before their scheduled time, did a fantastic job painting and cleaned up after. 5 starts isn't enough of a rating, if I could I'd give them 10 stars. I highly recommend Them for any painting job you have"

"Mark and his crew were so helpful, knowledgeable, cleaned up after all their work, I would recommend this company as first rate, I plan on having them come back and do other projects. I called one day he stopped by immediately and had the work completed with in a couple days. Pricing was right."

"I called for an estimate and THE NEXT DAY they were here and got the job done by early afternoon! The drywall (on ceiling) was textured and George matched the texture perfectly when he repaired it. And the paint work was first rate. I am very pleased with Garcia's Painting and I am so glad I found such great professionals through Home Advisor. I would recommend them to my friends without hesitation and will look forward to doing business with them for projects planned for the coming year."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Satin paint is generally considered a better choice for woodwork—including trim, baseboards, cabinets, and doors—than flatter finishes like eggshell or matte. Its soft sheen enhances architectural details and stands up well to frequent cleaning and daily wear. Compared to eggshell and matte finishes, satin is more durable for high-touch areas because it is less porous and doesn't absorb dirt as easily. Matte finishes, in particular, are prone to scuffs and are harder to clean, making them less practical for surfaces like doors and cabinets.

Ipe wood can last up to 75 years with minimal maintenance because its own oils help to preserve it. However, to get the most out of your Ipe wood deck, you should perform some routine maintenance, including regular cleaning, sweeping of leaves and debris, and rinsing spills with a hose. It’s also important to repair any deep scratches as soon as you spot them and reseal the deck annually to protect against scratches and scuffs.

Ultimately, overapplication of stain can compromise the deck's appearance, durability, and longevity. It may result in an uneven finish, with excess stain pooling, dripping, or drying into thick patches. It can also obscure the wood's natural grain and texture, detracting from the desired aesthetic. Moreover, excessive staining may not fully penetrate the wood, leading to poor adhesion and premature wear. Additionally, thick layers of stain are prone to peeling, cracking, and blistering as they struggle to bond with the surface.

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.

Pressure-treated wood lasts at least 10 years, but with the right care and treatment, it can last as long as 40 years. Painting the boards is one way to increase the lifespan of pressure-treated wood. The layer of paint provides extra protection for the wood against the exterior elements and insects.
