Generally speaking, adding concrete landscaping features will cause your property taxes to increase. That’s because projects that involve a permanent concrete foundation require permits and permanently improve the land. Since taxes are based on improvements, your taxes will go up. Since most of these will only lead to a partial improvement, you can expect the bump in your taxes to be minimal, but this is still something to consider.

You should put gravel that is 3/4 to 1 inch under a concrete slab. However, depending on the project, local building codes may dictate the proper gravel size and shape. Some concrete slabs that do not hold significant weight may have a subbase of sand. Also, keep in mind that the subbase you choose will affect the cost of your concrete patio, walkway, or driveway.

The main ingredients to make concrete are cement, water, air, and aggregate for proper formation. Mixing concrete occurs just before use to ensure proper curing after it is combined with water. Cement, however, is the key ingredient to concrete, and includes a collection of natural binding elements and sand, clay, and limestone. 

While you shouldn’t use thinset mortar on its own as a floor leveler, it can work alongside other products to help level floors. For instance, you could start with a self-leveling compound, let that dry, then apply backer board with thinset mortar to help fully even out the floors ahead of laying tile.

If your epoxy application ended up a bit messy and left spills behind, there are several ways to clean epoxy off of a concrete floor. You can use a power washer with at least 3,000 PSI. However, it may be easier to use a scraping tool or an acidic cleaner, like vinegar, to remove unwanted epoxy. 

If the entire floor has epoxy and you want to remove just excess epoxy stains, these methods could still strip parts of the epoxy floor. Move carefully and in small areas to minimize damage, or call a pro for an expert finish.
