"Rudy and crew were upmost professionals - basically conducted a whole house inspection, advised where I needed and where I did not need work done and what options were to fix problems I had identified. Provided accurate estimate, kept me updated as work progressed, cleaned up afterword."

"I reached out to Brian Lewis for two jobs to be done. 1st- remove 3 wooden pillars on back porch, replace them with new wooden pillars. Stain the pillars also replace decayed trim and prime with paint. 2nd- Remove carpet from living room and install vinyl flooring. Place quarter round the entire perimeter of flooring. I had Brian start with the pillars before committing to the flooring job. I was happy with how the pillars and trim turned out. The only thing was my trim didn't get primed with paint. I noticed this to him and he said he would get it done when he did the flooring. Since the pillars turned out good, I had him do the flooring. I am very unhappy with the outcome and professionalism on this job! Poor communication. Brian wasn't able to place Quarter round along the fire place and kitchen tile. Due to this large gaps are visible. Quarter round against the wall was glued down but now is separating from the wall. This was a very stressful and frustrating"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.

Ceiling fans are very often worth the investment because they improve comfort in your living space and help reduce utility bills. In the late spring and early fall—and even in the summer in some areas—homeowners with ceiling fans can often get away with open windows and fans, which can cut down on cooling bills and also reduce wear and tear on the HVAC system. Over time, ceiling fans can pay for themselves by saving you money on electric bills and air conditioner repair and maintenance.

Though possible, installing a ceiling fan yourself requires electrical knowledge and confidence working with home wiring. Following the manufacturer's instructions carefully and observing safety precautions are crucial components of a DIY installation.

There’s no reason why you can’t install a ceiling fan anywhere in your home, such as in living rooms, offices, bedrooms, and dining areas. Most bathrooms already have ventilation and don’t need a ceiling fan. For safety purposes, avoid installing a ceiling fan where the blades will be less than eight feet from the floor, near bunk beds, or anywhere else they may hit nearby objects.
