"“Exceptional!” This word summarizes the job that Thomas and Dustin’s Asphalt did from the very beginning to the very end of our driveway project. They were extremely professional, responsive and their work was of the highest quality. We had 2,100 feet (0.4 miles) of driveway installed that was ten feet wide. They sloped all of the ditches, graded and built up the driveway where necessary and then installed the new gravel driveway. Some other companies I had gotten bids from were going to just dump gravel, spread it, drive over it a few times and leave - at close to or even slightly higher cost than the exceptional work done by Thomas and Dustin’s Asphalt. Thomas and Dustin’s Asphalt brought in more rock and using a fifteen ton paver, compacted the gravel. They then used a 5000 pound roller to smooth all parts of the driveway. The project took the majority of four days and when the project was complete, they cleaned up everything, made sure there were no imperfections and then rolled out the entire driveway once again. I will not call anyone else in the future other than Thomas and Dustin’s Asphalt for paving or driveway maintenance needs. I highly recommend that you call Thomas and Dustin’s Asphalt also."

"Greenville Gate and Jr. are top notch. He came out explained our options of openers, and was very knowledgeable. After scheduling them to install the gate he was prompt and installed the gate opener. A few days after the gate was installed Jr. called and checked to make sure it was operating properly. I love to support small business owners and Greenville Gates did not disappoint. I would highly recommend them."

"They came out after the permit was given and got right to work the first setting all the poles and the big mister one that was going to hold the gate and got the gate frame done. The next day the same and knocked it out in a fury of nails from the one and sparks from the welding the gate opening system and ram. I love my fence and private driveway gate. It's nothing short of beautiful. And thank you guys so much."

"My husband had a fence built for his mother. We was having trouble with the City of Allen. MK went and pleated our case. After we had a survey done the permit was ready. He went and picked it up. They started and finished in one day. The fence looks great. If your looking for a honest fence company Stand Strong is a great choice. We are thankful we found them."

"I had great discussions with you on the site and over the phone. I really appreciate your professional expertise . Unfortunately, I thought the project would cost less. I need to review every thing in more details so I can decide if this project is realistic for me. Again, you are a very capable young man full of sincerity and enthusiasm. If my financial situation improves, I would contact you again. I hope you have a prosperous business and a bright future. Thank you so much!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The driveway apron is a technical term referring to where a private driveway meets the public street. If there is a sidewalk in front of the house, the driveway apron is typically on the opposite side of the public sidewalk from the driveway itself.

Yes, with colored finishes and decorative stamping for a personalized touch.

The answer to whether or not you need to get a permit before you start your driveway can vary widely based on local ordinances and the scope of your driveway ideas. In most urban and suburban areas, a permit is needed before building a new driveway to ensure that a homeowner is using safe materials and proper drainage practices while designing and constructing a new driveway. In some rural areas, a homeowner may not be required to apply for a permit. When building a new driveway on your own, always check with your local building department to see if you need to request a permit. When hiring a driveway contractor, verify that the right permits are being used before driveway construction begins.

Yes, you can retrofit an existing driveway, but this usually involves cutting grooves into the driveway, installing the heating elements, then sealing them. While this is much less expensive than typical heated driveway systems, the final appearance could be diminished. Speak with a driveway paving company to confirm which design method is best for you.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.
