"This was a residential job (updating most of the electrical wiring). Eduardo did a wonderful job adding in extra lights and updating fixtures. The quality of his work is excellent! I would recommend this company to anyone who needs any electrical work to be done."

"My wife and I were building a home out in the country and were looking for an affordable company to do our electrical work. After hearing from a few friends about Breaker Pro I decided to give them a call and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Danny from Breaker Pro was super knowledgeable and professional and was able to wire our entire home at a very affordable price. He finished the work and was able to accommodate the few things that we wanted to customize around the home, from extra outlets, to ceiling fans and an upgraded electrical box. Needless to say, we were very pleased with the work and the price. We will definitely be giving them a call back once we need anything electrical around the house. 10/10"

"Really knowledgeable team. After the installation, I became dissatisfied with the routing of a couple of cables because of their negative appearance on my roof and chimney. The team came back and rerouted the cables and added an additional grounding rod at no expense. They talked to me about different options and made sure I was totally satisfied. These guys really care that you are pleased!"

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Multiple wire sizes are used for residential electrical purposes. While the most common sizes used in homes are 14 and 12 gauge, some appliances, such as stoves, electric water heaters, central air units, etc., may use larger gauge wire to accommodate their larger amperage. Typically, larger appliances require 10-, 8-, or 6-gauge wires.

In many cases, yes, upgrading your electrical panel can lower your electric bill. Upgrading an outdated electrical panel can make your home more energy-efficient, so you consume less electricity and spend less on utility bills. However, to see these savings, you’ll need to invest quite a bit. On average, installing a new electrical panel costs $1,200 to $2,000, with most people paying around $1,600.

The copper wire used in knob and tube wiring systems can last up to 100 years. However, it’s considered a dangerous and outdated wiring method because the cloth, fabric, or rubber insulation sheathing can become brittle and fall apart. Knob and tube wiring systems should be inspected if you’re considering buying a home with this type of wiring, or if you have problems with frequently tripping breakers, a sign that you may need to replace them.

With AC wiring, which is the kind most likely you’ll find at home, the black wire is “hot,” and the white is “neutral.” The bare or green wire is considered the safety ground wire. If you encounter DC wiring, it’s relatively easy to tell positive or negative wires apart. red wires are used to indicate positive voltage and black wires indicate negative voltage.

No, outdoor outlets are not required to be on a separate circuit. However, you should always defer to local electrical codes when making decisions about how to install your new outlet. An experienced local electrician will be able to inform you of all codes and requirements in place at your home.
