"Couldn't be happier with the work that Urban Legend Woodworking do for me. I had some water damage due to a leaking dishwasher and they quickly repaired all the damaged wood quickly and for a fair price. I would highly recommend them."

"Marcelino and his team were responsive and the work completed was excellent at a reasonable cost. We first had our closet completed and when I was ready to do the laundry room, I immediately called Marcelino and did not shop around."

"I hired ArtVitan to remodel our kitchen, and the experience was very disappointing. The project took a full month longer than promised, largely because the contractor tried to handle everything himself without the necessary staff to complete the work on time. Even after the delay, the quality was poor. Within a month of completion, cabinet hinges began falling off and several doors would no longer close properly. When I contacted the contractor to fix these issues, he kept putting me off for weeks. Eventually, he told me it would cost an additional $850 to repair the same cabinets he had just installed. I expected professional workmanship and accountability, but instead I was left with subpar results, added costs, and ongoing frustration. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this contractor for any remodeling project."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Whether or not it’s easier to cut wood when it’s wet versus dry depends largely on the type of tool you use and the wood you’re cutting. For example, a chain saw should still be able to cut through wet wood with relative ease, but it may be more difficult to maneuver due to the wood fibers sticking to the chains of the saw.

However, you might want to avoid cutting wood entirely when it’s wet if you’re pruning your tree. Sawing a wet tree that you don’t plan on removing can also encourage bacterial and fungal growth and decay.

The pro you need to hire to build your shed depends on the shed you purchase. A local handyman or general contractor can help build a prefab shed for you. However, if you’re looking for a custom shed, contacting a shed builder near you is the best option. Make sure you get quotes from 3 pros to decide on the best pro for your job.

There are two ways you can cut trim for doorways: with a miter saw or a table saw. Mitered joints need a 45-degree angle. If you’re unfamiliar with a miter saw, you might want to consider buying extra trim pieces or choosing butted joints instead. One wrong cut, and you’ll need to power up the saw again with a new piece.

Butted joints—also called shaker style—don’t need a 45-degree angle. Instead, your side pieces attach perpendicularly to the header trim and only require a straight cut.

Yes, carpenters can fix squeaky floors. They have the expertise to identify the source of the squeak, whether it’s loose floorboards, subfloor issues, or joist problems. These experts also have the right tools and hands-on knowledge to secure the flooring and eliminate the noise, ensuring a long-lasting solution.

If you don’t have a power saw with a blade where you can adjust the angle, you could use a miter box and hand saw to make the cuts. The miter box contains wide slots to support the piece of baseboard and other narrow slots to accommodate the blade of the hand saw. However, it’s tough to make non-standard cuts beyond 30 or 45 degrees when using a miter box.
