"I hired Eric Knight in October of 2024 to remove an old flagstone patio and replace it with a new deck. Work commenced November 4 with the demolition of the flagstone. To this day (January 17) the flagstone still sits in my backyard after many promises he would haul it off. I had already paid him to do so. The deck was done to my satisfaction although Eric farmed out the job to sub contractors. We agreed to have an underground drain for the downspouts to empty into my backyard. I wasn?t happy with the design he came up with, with huge PVC pipe above ground, which is quite an eyesore, not to mention it leaks on the deck, and the water doesn?t drain into the yard. He said the leaking was normal, and he would design something to cover it. I?m very disappointed with Industrial Lawn,LLC. Eric Knight can?t be trusted to complete a job, and he lies about when he will show up, So, if anyone is thinking about hiring him, heed my warning. The guy is a snake. "

Ariana was extremely professional and responsive, and she provided several quotes based on our specifications. We ended up doing a two layered stone wall. The stone wall came out beautifully and really boosts our curb appeal. The crew chose quality limestone that matched our house and took great care of our existing plants. It depends on the model of your pool. You’ll always have to level the topsoil, but most vinyl-lined pools require an additional 1- to 2-inch layer of sand to protect the liner. This way, when a foot kicks down to the bottom of your pool, it’s not scraping the liner against the hard ground. If your pool isn’t vinyl-lined, you can skip this step or add a layer of another base material, like decomposed granite. Always check your manufacturer’s instructions before you begin.

Artificial turf usually requires some sort of base. If you’re installing the grass over soil, you’ll want to add a weed barrier (weeds can damage your fake grass) and an artificial grass sub-base . Typically, this is a mixture of gravel and sand, like crushed miscellaneous base (CMB) or decomposed granite. If you're placing turf over concrete, you can skip the sub base and use a padded underlayment.

Many suppliers offer installation services, either directly or through reliable subcontractors. Discuss these needs when ordering, as they may require additional scheduling or payment.

Colored mulch can be bad for plants in that it robs them of nitrogen as it depletes the soil to break itself down. With this in mind, it’s a good idea to test your soil to check the nitrogen levels. If the nitrogen levels are low, use fertilizer with extra nitrogen or switch to regular mulch.

Another downside of colored mulch is if it’s heavily contaminated, it can contaminate the soil and damage your plants. To avoid this, look for the MSC certification logo on the mulch bag before purchasing.

Keeping your gravel driveway beautiful—or any gravel structure for that matter—does call for regular maintenance. You may occasionally need to add more gravel to low areas if you notice any pooling after rainfall. Gravel might also become excessively dusty over time. You can compact it with a mechanical compactor, which you can rent for around $80 to $85 per day.

To minimize maintenance requirements for your gravel, it’s important to ensure your land is properly graded before installing the gravel. It’s also helpful to lay landscaping fabric beforehand to keep it in place.
