"Very satisfied. The crew arrived on time, and went "straight at it." Very friendly. Answered questions. The siding and deck cleanings were well done. All the algae removed. It all looks great. Thanks!"

Customers say: True professional

"Just had gutter cleaning with Ed's Window and Gutter Cleaning. The owner of Ed's did a thorough cleaning with his powerful and neat power pressure wash tool, at a very reasonable price. He is also responsive in making appointment and courteous when on site doing the cleaning. I would use his service again. Highly recommend."

"Thankful for our GC (Crest Exteriors) who connected us with Texas Best Stain when the storms did a number on our fence. Kyle Jamieson, project manager, executed everything from beginning to end flawlessly. He stayed in touch throughout the process from insurance assessments to post project completion. Davith headed the fencing crew. He was incredibly personable and went the extra mile to be sure I approved of the correct color, insured my gates swung better than they ever have and every detail was considered. I was really impressed with the care taken to not spread stain beyond where it belonged (covering and protecting EVERYTHING). When we realized my neighbor was out of town for the holiday weekend and her son's truck was parked in a nearby driveway - Davith covered the truck to protect it from any potential spray. Thankful for this family run business. The care taken by both Kyle Jamieson and Davith was like they were helping one of their own. Highly recommend these gentlemen and Texas Best Stain."

"Alex Pujol and his team performed a great clean up of my overgrown yard. They followed up in a professional manner and recommended only the necessary items needed for my yard maintenance. The yard is a large one and they were able to clean the entire property in just a few hours. I will refer them on a regular basis. The communication I received on a delayed arrival time was first rate!"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, transforming a deck into a sunroom is an absolute possibility. Building a sunroom involves framing in the deck area with walls, adding windows, and affixing a roof. This project is not an easy task, but it does provide a stylish addition to your house. Not all deck designs support this type of renovation project, so consult a professional deck builder before beginning.

The best time to paint your deck is when temperatures are neither too cold (below 60 degrees) nor too hot (above 85 degrees). Always paint your deck when there’s no risk of rain. For fast-drying paint like acrylic or latex, ensure your deck can dry for at least four hours. Oil-based paints take longer to dry and may require 48 hours to completely cure.

There are more pros than cons when staining a deck. Deck stain is more affordable than paint, it protects the wood and allows the natural textures to shine through, and it can revive the appearance of your home. However, deck stain also requires prep work (sometimes days or more), carries more upkeep than a painted deck, and can fade over time if not cared for.

Pressure-treated decking may be worth it if you want a natural, insect- and rot-resistant decking material that will last for decades with proper maintenance. As such, it’s a much better option than untreated pine. Alternative wood decking materials like cedar and redwood tend to be less durable and more expensive. Some homeowners prefer composite decking, which is a low-maintenance alternative to wood but is also more costly.

When building an outdoor or deck gate, it's crucial to use durable wood that can withstand harsh weather conditions like sunlight, rain, wind, and snow. Redwood and cedar are excellent choices as they naturally resist decay. While redwood is considered more elegant, cedar is a more affordable option. Other suitable woods include oak and pressure-treated pine, which is specifically treated to resist rot. Although some softwoods like pine are popular, untreated softwoods such as pine and spruce should generally be avoided for outdoor projects because they are susceptible to damage from water, rot, and the sun. Ultimately, it's wise to consider your local climate when selecting the right wood for your gate.
