"Old school was easy to work with an helped me design my forever home, I was walked through all the plans in detail. They understood what I wanted and that was huge for me. They were very good with communication, solid craftsmanship, and were extremely efficient with their time. I’ve got a one off custom kitchen with beautiful trim everywhere in my house. 3bed 2bath in the middle of winter, not easy. Thank you to everybody at Old School you’ve brought my dream house to reality."

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"

After finding his contact information on Angie's List and checking out his website, I contacted Mr. Westbrook by email on a Sunday afternoon and got a call from him the same day.  We agreed that he would stop by my home to discuss a Master Suite addition the following Thursday evening, which was the first time I was available.

I am a former custom home builder and had a good idea about what I wanted, but I was looking for someone who had both the design and building skills to complete the project to my demanding standards.  When Mr. Westbrook arrived precisely on time in the pouring rain, I quickly realized that he knew exactly what he was talking about and his personality was perfect for the job.  Within about 5 minutes, Mr. Westbrook became Wally and I felt as if I had known him for years.

Several times over the next few days, we exchanged sketches of the proposed project and I was extremely pleased with the results.  With just a builder's sketch of my existing floor plan, dimensions from an appraisal and a few photographs that Wally took during our initial meeting, he was quickly able to create a 3 dimensional plan and elevation of my existing home which he used to design the new addition.

The scope of work included a major expansion of the covered porch and Master Bedroom, adding an adjacent 15' X 15' sitting room and adding a new pool bath.  Within just a few days, Wally submitted the preliminary design which was exactly what I had envisioned.  His plan matched the current design perfectly, and complemented the existing roof plan very well--which proved his expertise in both design and construction.

After integrating a few ideas that I had provided and making some revisions that he had suggested, Wally prepared the final plans and elevations for the HOA and permit review.  From the first visit to the final review, it was obvious to me that Wally had the necessary skill set and commitment to do the job well and to meet my specific expectations.   It is rare to find someone these days who is so committed to his work, but Wally exceeded even my expectations. Overall, it was a real pleasure to do business with him, and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who is considering a major addition to their home.

"Willie and his team did fantastic work. After contacting numerous other "foundation experts", Willie provided the best plan and backed it up with his overall knowledge and certification/training in basement/foundation repair. He and his team do great work and take no short-cuts when it comes to the overall quality of the work. He also was very flexible when other requests were made and he gladly accommodated. He has a passion for his business, customers and takes great pride in his work. The basement and porch are now fixed and look great. Best of all is that we have confidence the work performed will last."

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

Before starting a home building project in Junction, TX, check the property's flood zone designation near the Llano River to determine foundation height requirements. Test the soil to see if the lot sits on shallow limestone or caliche, which dictates foundation design. Evaluate utility access, test well water for mineral hardness, and assess existing septic capacity. Finally, review local deed restrictions and note any heavy cedar coverage that requires clearing.

Helpful?

As a property ages in Junction, home building focuses on managing the effects of extreme temperature swings and rocky soil. During the first decade, expect to repaint wood trim and seal stucco cracks caused by intense sun. Between ten and twenty-five years, inspect metal roofing fasteners and monitor the foundation for settling. For older homes, repoint native limestone exteriors and update aging plumbing to meet current Texas standards.

Helpful?

Popular home building trends in Junction focus on handling the intense climate and conserving resources. Install a metal roof to withstand hail and UV rays, and incorporate native limestone exteriors for a classic look. Add deep covered porches to block the harsh summer sun. Prioritize high-quality spray foam insulation to manage heat, and install a rainwater harvesting system to combat frequent dry spells across this region of TX.

Helpful?

After finishing home building projects in Junction, immediately update the homeowner's insurance policy to cover the new structure against hail and flood risks. Obtain a final certificate of occupancy and notify the local appraisal district about the improvements. Set up a consistent foundation watering schedule for the first dry season to prevent settling. Finally, commission any new rainwater collection systems and verify septic capacity with local environmental health officials.

Helpful?

Certain habits quickly damage home building work in Junction. Avoid overwatering or completely neglecting the soil around the foundation, as inconsistent moisture causes severe structural movement. Keep aggressive cedar roots away from the house, and never block natural sheet-flow drainage paths with new landscaping. Always treat hard well water before it enters the plumbing system to prevent severe mineral buildup, and run humidifiers during dry Texas winters to protect wood finishes.
