Eventually, a VERY POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL person showed up to do the work, but he was a subcontractor rather than an employee of the contractor himself.

The work, overall, was very good, and I'm happy with it--I don't like having to beg someone to get their business, though, and when I contact a supplier, I expect them to do the work themselves, not send someone else.
