"I hired them after many disappointing attempts at a really problem water drainage in my garage, John came and went right to work on the problem and came up with a wonderful solution, I could not be happier with the job and the amount of time and thought that went into the solution, John and his son Trey are 2 of the most capable people that I have ever hired...They did a beautiful job of solving my problem and hanging larger gutters...putting steel screens where no leaves will clog up the works, this is important to a senior. I want to thank them so much, I appreciate their dedication to the customers and to the reputation of their business....they are on my "excellent list""

"GutterMaxx responded right away. They gave me the cost to remove old gutters and replace with their seamless Leaf Guard that had Life Time Warranty. They made it very easy to finance with zero interest. I highly recommend GutterMaxx. The installation team were real professionals."

Small jobs welcome

"This job involved reconfiguration of our gutter downspout and extension. It was a straightforward repair job. Austin contacted us immediately and after some texting and phone calls to determine the scope of the work, he arrived the next day and completed the job in less than an hour. We are very pleased with all aspects of this business transaction."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Yes, caulking or sealing your vinyl gutters is a good way to help prevent gutter leaks. When you’re installing gutters, it’s important to overlap the sections to help avoid issues like leaks or drips, but they can still happen. In this case, adding caulk can help. Make sure to use a caulk designed for multiple surfaces, like a silicone-based caulk. You can also purchase a gutter sealant as well, which is specifically designed for this purpose.

Calcium chloride does not do significant damage to gutters when used properly and in moderate amounts. If you use too much too frequently, it could eventually cause corrosion in your gutters. Rock salt will harm your gutters, though.

The most common problem with gutters is clogging from debris like leaves, blossoms, and seeds from surrounding trees. This debris can block downspouts, leading to improper drainage and water overflow.

Other common issues include:

  • Leaks and holes, which can often be repaired with gutter sealant or caulk.

  • Rust, sagging, or detachment from the roofline.

  • Damage from strong storms.

  • Improperly pitched gutters that don't drain correctly.

Regular cleaning in the spring and fall is the best way to prevent most of these problems. You may need to clean them more often during periods of heavy leaf fall.

If you don't want to install gutter guards, the most common and inexpensive alternative is regular gutter cleaning, either annually, biannually, or as soon as they start to fill up. Using a leaf blower attachment can make this process easier. Other products designed to reduce cleanings include gutter screens (made of wire mesh, nylon, or foam), which are typically less expensive than a full gutter guard installation. You can also find guards and inserts designed specifically to protect your downspouts or opt for a whole gutter system like LeafGuard, which integrates the gutter and guard into a single product.

When it comes to which gutter material is better, the choice really boils down to what you're looking for in a gutter system. If saving money is the most important factor, then your best option is to go for aluminum gutters. If longevity and durability are more important to you, then copper gutters could be the best fit. If you want to customize the color of your gutters, aluminum takes the cake, but if you're looking for a more natural appearance, copper might be a better choice.
