"Steve was very responsive in returning my calls. Called when he was on his way to my house. He gave me an estimate and within 10 days the new glass was in my windows. He and his partner were very nice and did a great job installing the glass and cleaning up."

"Purchased "deal" on Angies deal as all our windows are partitioned and this would cost more, so Dan did an estimate for the whole house which turned out to be a little more expensive than we had previously paid but we contracted him to do the work anyway because Thanksgiving is next week and we have a crowd coming. He proceeded to do the work in a very professional and workmanlike manner and did an excellent job. The house looks fabulous now and we are very pleased that we went ahead and let him do the job. Highly recommended"

"They rescheduled several times after they couldn't keep original appointment. Windows look great. They did break an antique when their ladder fell inside the house. They didn't offer to compensate or replace it."

"Amazing! Couldn't have gone better. They do amazing work. I know that once it is fully cured and painted (I'm having the whole house painted) you will never be able to tell there were windows (or a crack) there. David and Jason met with me to give me the bid and they also did the work (unlike a lot of contractors who bid the job and then send somebody else out to actually do the work). They even helped me finish repairing a few cracks in the mortar that I had decided to do myself to save money (and they let me borrow their grinder!). They cleaned up everything after they were done. I will definitely call them again if I ever need a brick mason."

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for small projects, but professional installation ensures proper sealing, structural integrity, and a precise finish.

Their thickness depends on application, but most glass walls are typically 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick. Although it’s not as common, single panes of glass can also be 1 inch thick.

Heavy glass tends to be more expensive than thin glass because it is stronger and more durable. In most cases, ¼-inch-thick glass is ideal for mirrors, and ⅛-inch-thick glass is ideal for residential windows. Heavier glass isn’t always necessary, and can be more challenging to hang or install. Work with a local window installation pro for replacement or new construction windows.

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.
