"While the cost of the Jacuzzi walk in shower was high, the quality of the of the product was also high. The remolding and installation of the walk-in shower was flawless! Their prep work to ensure that my home remained clean and unblemished was impressive. Their handling of all materials was done with great care so as not to damage my home. The complete tear down of the shower bathtub area was amazing to watch. They rebuilt everything from the ground up--modernizing plumbing fixtures, adding beams for weight bearing handgrips, beams, new drainage system, and an amazing window kit left me shaking my head in amazement. This team definitely gave me what I was paying for and then some! It was a pleasure seeing these professionals at work in carrying out the project! They get a 5-star + rating in my view and would be welcomed back for my next project!"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

Roman tubs are very different from ordinary tubs. A Roman tub is typically deeper and broader than a traditional tub, and it's often installed on a custom platform with the faucet positioned on the deck rather than on the wall. Ordinary tubs are more shallow and usually feature built-in shower options

In some cases, people are getting rid of bathtubs because of the floor space they gain after removal. Showers can make more efficient use of bathroom space. In some cases, people get rid of tubs for accessibility purposes. It can be difficult for some individuals to step into and out of a tub. For these people, a shower with no lip or step is safer and easier to use than a tub.

The water supply lines run underneath the bathtub. These two pipes deliver cold and hot water to the bathtub—the cold water comes from the main water supply, and the hot water comes from the water heater. The pipes are made from copper, cream-colored plastic CPVC, or red and blue PEX tubing.

If you don’t caulk your bathtub, then there won’t be a watertight seal between your bathtub and the wall tile surrounding it. As a result, water can seep into the wall and the floor and cause the perfect breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Not only does this require costly repairs, but mold can be harmful to those breathing it.

If you have an alcove in your bathroom, you don’t necessarily need to install an alcove tub. You can choose a drop-in tub and fit the frame to the alcove. This allows you to get a more custom or spa-like look. Think cultured marble or tiling for the frame versus the simpler look of acrylic or fiberglass with an alcove tub.
