"TDR did a wonderful job cleaning up and mowing my neglected yard in a very timely manner as well as giving me a quote before doing the work. I'm very happy I found & hired TDR, spoke with Stephen many times over the course of the job as well as receiving pictures of work and video when completed since I wasn't able to be there at my place. Highly recommend & hired Stephen to come back to keep yard under control in the future."

"I called Brian after seeing his listing in Home Advisor. I am located in North Carolina and have my old home for sale in Beaumont, Texas. Brian told me he could drive by the day I called and see what he would need to do, provide a price and tell me when he had time to cut and trim the .75 acre yard. I didn't expect him to be able to perform the work the same day as I called, but he was able to fit the yard work into his schedule. He sent pictures of the completed work, which was extremely well done. The back yard is fenced and has extremely bad weed growth, but he eliminated that problem and didn't leave piles of dead weeds on the ground. My Realtor was pleased and the house is much more presentable for a sale. He accepts electronic payment, which made the transaction easy for both of us due to the distance involved. I highly recommend Brian. He communicates extremely well, and is definitely out to satisfy the employer. Super contractor!"

Weed Services questions, answered by experts

Due to its slow growth, Bahia grass does not generally take over weeds. In fact, the opposite can be true. Young Bahia grass is susceptible to being taken over by weeds.

Likewise, in the cool season, Bahia grass goes into a dormant state that can allow weeds that thrive in early spring to get the upper hand. If you want to prevent weeds from taking over your yard, remove them by hand or apply a Bahia grass-friendly pre-emergent herbicide to your lawn before weeds have a chance to appear.

No, it's not really possible to completely prevent weed growth. Weeds are incredibly resilient—all they usually need is a tiny bit of dirt to sprout, so their eventual appearance is pretty much inevitable. However, you can definitely keep them at bay by getting rid of weeds as soon as you notice them. The longer you let them sit and grow roots, the more they'll spread.

Pulling weeds once per month is typically often enough to keep most weeds at bay. But in general, it's best to pull weeds as soon as you spot them to prevent deep root growth and slow their spread. To make it easier, plan your weed pulling after rain or after the sprinklers run so the soil will be nice and wet and the weeds will be easier to pull. If you notice moss accompanying weeds, make a plan to remove the moss immediately to prevent damage.

The best way to prevent weeds is to use polymeric sand, which hardens and blocks weed growth when activated with water. If you're using regular sand, you'll need to refill and compact it more often. Keeping the surface clean and free of debris can also help prevent weed seeds from settling in the joints.

The best time to fight crabgrass with pre-emergent herbicide is when forsythias tend to bloom. In the mid-Atlantic region, this is usually between April and May. Even if you're late to apply the herbicide, it’s effective as long as the crabgrass plant has fewer than five leaves.
