Small jobs welcome

"Erick is wonderful to deal with! He is extremely reliable and honest, traits I don't, unfortunately, see in many handymen services. His work is very good and he did what he said he would do. I'm especially happy that he takes the less expensive route to repair items vs the total replace costing $$$$. It's a perfect way to see if that is all that is needed to fix the item. Because he figured out the problem in my faucet, I'm getting a brand new one free from Moen. I just had another repairman in a few months ago, who didn't do such a thorough job and he charged more. I would, and have, recommend him to all my friends in need of general services."

"I called and Raphael came the same day. Had the repair complete in under an hour. He explained the repair to me as he was doing it and how to maintain the door so I won't need this fix again. I knew exactly what it would cost before he started."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

In the majority of cases, you don’t need regulatory permission or permits to remove decking components and materials. However, the exception is if you live in or near a wildlife conservation area, which could require permits and consent prior to beginning the demolition. Check with a local regulatory agency for more information.

Composite decking requires a solid foundation or substructure for support. This base is typically a frame composed of posts, beams, joists, and footings. The frame can be built from various materials, such as composite, plastic, timber, or metal, depending on your budget, deck type, and environmental conditions. For maximum stability, a professional deck builder may recommend installing this frame on top of a solid concrete base. It is best to discuss the most suitable substructure design and materials for your specific project with a professional.

Yes, you can build a deck over your outdoor HVAC unit, but you need to leave at least 5 feet of vertical clearance above the unit. If you don’t want your deck to be that high off the ground, you could build a floating deck in another part of your yard—again, as long as you leave at least 4 feet of horizontal space between the deck and your AC unit.

Routine cleaning, sealing/staining, and inspection prolong deck life and appearance.

Pressure-treated wood contains preservatives that give the material internal protection from rot and pests. Untreated lumber won’t last more than a few years unless you choose a more expensive wood, like cedar, that naturally stands up well to moisture. Composite decking can outlast wood but is more expensive and doesn’t look as natural. Keep in mind that you’ll need to seal any exterior wood product to protect it from the elements and other forms of external damage.
