"Everything went exceeding well! Mike Greathouse of GreatWater Irrigation and Ecoscapes carefully inspected my sprinkler system and then expertly repaired two broken sprinklers. I found Mike to be knowledgeable and personable. His charges for services performed were fair and reasonable. The next time my sprinkler system needs repairs, I will definitely call Greatwater Irrigation and Echoscopes. I highly recommend them to any Angie List member needing to have their sprinkler system inspected and/or repaired."

"The crew was a bit sloppy when Joe wasn't around, but he had them return to re-do a few places and clean off areas where the concrete/mortar should not have been placed. There wasn't anything than couldn't be fixed."

"G&R Concrete and Lawn Service is OUTSTANDING! They are Professional, courteous, prompt, accurate, very hard-working, and do OUTSTANDING quality work. They poured a large concrete patio in my backyard that is complimented for its quality by everyone who sees it. They also did a landscaping brick & stone work for my mom's home that is again first-class quality work. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone for any concrete or home landscaping project!"

Fountains questions, answered by experts

DIY kits are available, but professional installation ensures proper water flow, electrical safety, and leak prevention.

In addition to length and width, pond liners also come in various thickness levels. Thickness is measured in mils, a unit of measurement equal to one-thousandth of an inch, with most pond liners ranging from 15 to 60 mils in thickness. The smaller the number, the thinner (and weaker) the liner. To prevent rips and tears, it’s best to choose a pond liner that’s at least 30 mils thick.

Consider the pros and cons of installing a water fountain in your backyard:

Pros

  • Fountains can add beauty to your backyard.

  • Creates a relaxing space to enjoy in your yard.

  • Water features can add more value to your home.

Cons

  • Regular maintenance is necessary.

  • Upfront and maintenance costs can escalate quickly.

  • Space may not permit you to install the fountain you want.

Yes, your fish should stay alive in a frozen pond if you winterize it properly. By ensuring your pond has enough oxygen, good water quality, and a hole to release harmful gases, your pond and fish have the best chance of staying alive and healthy. However, if you have tropical fish, they should be overwintered indoors.

You have several options for your pond by getting your yard ready for the winter. You can winterize your koi pond by ensuring it’s at least 5 feet deep so it doesn’t freeze completely, installing a pond heater or aerator and having it run at all times, and installing a deicer if temperatures are dangerously low for an extended period. You can also choose to shut down your pond for the winter by removing all the wildlife in it and bringing it indoors, cleaning out the filter and pump, and then covering the pond with a tarp.
