"Fantastic! Leo did a truly professional job. He inspected my dryer vent and the outdoor vent. He was extremely diligent about cleaning the area at the end which was much appreciated in this COVID environment. He found a bird and bird's nest causing the blockage and also installed a covering to prevent this problem in the future. Extremely polite and informative throughout. Highly Recommend!!"

"They did a great job repairing the cracks in the stucco on the chimney. Required a new chase top which they handmade. Explained what needed to be done and how they would repair it. Gave me a fair price and the chimney is now good as new. Wasn’t an easy job in the hot Texas sun. If you want it done right, call A-1 American Construction. Bill is a Marine Corps Vet. ?"

"Not as well as I was thought it would go. The first designer was a little pushy and it seems his opinions were more important than mine. Had another designer from the company come out and he was very different than the first. We spoke about the project and we decided to go with them Diamond Decks. The bid was around 22,000 dollars. The next morning I called the designer and told him that we needed to visit the location of the 2 8X8" beam placements needed to support the patio cover because the location would interfere with the 4X4's supporting the existing deck. We talked on the phone but no one came to see the location placement of the 8X8" beams. I was reassured it would be handled. Patio Cover Three weeks later the person that was actually going to build the structure came out to start construction but we needed to call the designer because he had no information about the deck supports interfering with the new beams. The designer came out and said since I wanted a building permit the holes for the new beams would be twice as large and would have to be inspected. He may not have been aware of this because he did not have an engineered drawing but was told over the phone the dimensions needed to be 2'x2'x3'. His design called for 1'x1'x2' holes. Moving beams off deck, bigger holes and materials to extend cover 2' $1600.00. The Pergola The pergola was to be free standing with 2 8X8"X10' beams towards the back of the house under the facia board and this would allow room for a gutter and 2 8X8"X10' beams at the end of the deck to support the pergola. Once again the issue with the engineered holes necessitated to redesign the pergola drawing. Because the new engineered holes would cut so much out of the existing deck the beams were eliminated and now the pergola would have to be attached to the facia board and no gutter. New design another $1600.00. My wife and I talked about the location of the 2 8X8" at the end of the deck and the designer said it's OK. When the pergola was finally finished it looked good but was 6" to far to the right. Staining Cover and pergola. Painter did a good job of covering up for over spray and drips. He sprayed about 30 square feet and said it was too windy to continue spraying. He stopped and about ten minutes later my wife arrived from running errands and came to look at the work. Right away she noticed it was the wrong color of stain. It took him about 3 day days to remove as much of the wrong stain as possible. When finished the job did look alright. Really needed 2 coats of stain only got 1. The reason the original estimate had to be revised I was told was because they said I changed my mind from the original design. The design had to be changed because their design did not take into account the engineered holes for the large beams which would have resulted in a lot of work on my existing deck. The new design was not my arbitrary change. Why have I waited almost a year to write this review? I finally got over the issues with the cover and pergola design and decided just to enjoy the finished pergola and cover. My wife and I were sitting under the cover and we heard scratching at the junction where the cover was attached to the house. It seems they left holes opened and squirrels found their way in and decided to take up residence. One of the selling points was what their advertisements said, they pay "attention to detail". When the 8"X8"X12' beams were delivered the original design called for 6 beams. Some "attention to detail" was lacking because 16 beams were delivered. Apparently there was not a lot of "attention to detail" on my project."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

Walking on an asbestos roof can pose a risk. Asbestos roofing materials can become brittle over time, increasing the chances of them breaking or releasing fibers when stepped on. Additionally, walking on an asbestos roof without proper precautions can cause further damage to the material. If possible, avoid touching an asbestos roof in any way and consult with a professional about removing and replacing the roof.

Whether you should repair or replace your roof boils down to the scope of the damage. If you need to replace more than 20% or 30% of your roof, then it’s probably a good idea to just replace the entire roof, as leaving older sections up can leave parts of your roof open to more issues. By replacing your roof, you can have peace of mind that no pesky leaks are sneaking into your home.

You should not clean roof shingles if the roof has damage like missing shingles or low spots where water may accumulate. You should focus on repairing the roof before any cleaning process occurs. If you notice roof damage as you’re climbing on the roof to clean it, stop immediately. Call a roofing pro to make repairs. Cleaning a roof that has damage could lead to pooling water or water damage to the roof decking. The roof cleaning process removes mold and mildew, making the roof look better. It is not going to fix physical damage, though.

Yes, professionals use chimney cameras to detect hidden damage and blockages.

If you don’t see obvious signs of roof leaks, like water spots on the ceilings inside or visible damage to the roof membrane, the best way to check for leaks is to have a professional complete a heat scan of your roof. This will identify areas where water has penetrated the membrane and is keeping the roof cooler in certain areas.
