"Mark was on time and came prepared to work! He mulched our entire front yard and took care in doing it. He kept everything neat through the process and respected the plants that he had to work around. Our palmetto tree was in bad shape and needed trimming. He made it look beautiful again. He worked most of the day and returned bright and early the next day to finish up. He also cut the grass in our backyard and edged. He was mannerly and the most important thing he was not in a hurry to finish. He was more interested in doing a good job. We plan on Mark coming back in September or October to replace rotten wood on our deck."

Rather than trying to neutralize a septic tank odor, you should hire a pro to determine the source of the smell, since sewage gas can be toxic.

Several things can ruin a septic tank over time, including dumping harsh chemicals (like bleach and ammonia), pesticides, and paint thinners down your drain because they can kill the bacteria in your septic tank. You should also make sure to only flush waste and toilet paper in your toilet—otherwise, you could clog your system.

All municipalities in the U.S. require a permit for septic tank installation or septic system alteration, and the permit will usually cost between $450 and $2,500.
