Aluminum siding isn't the only type of siding material on the market for giving your home's exterior a makeover. Alternatives to aluminum siding include vinyl siding, wood siding, composite siding, and brick veneer siding. Each siding material comes with strengths and weaknesses that could influence your decision based on your particular circumstances, so it's  important to look into each type as they pertain to your home and lifestyle before deciding.

A popular competitor to aluminum siding is vinyl siding, which has a similar price and is lower maintenance but comes with a shorter life span.

There are two ways to determine which renovation will add the most value to a house. One is based on money alone, and the other is based on the percentage of money spent versus money earned when selling the home. While these values vary, the best projects to add value based on percentages are exterior painting, replacing doors and windows, replacing the garage door, roofing replacement, and upgrading the siding.

When cleaning stucco siding, it is recommended to use a pressure washer with a psi (pounds per square inch) between 1,500 and 2,000. This range provides sufficient power to remove dirt and grime without causing damage to the stucco surface. It's important to avoid using excessive psi as it can chip or crack the stucco. 

Using a wider spray nozzle and keeping a safe distance of about seven to 10 feet from the siding helps ensure a gentle and effective cleaning process. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines and adjust the psi accordingly based on the condition of your stucco and the specific requirements of your pressure washer.

Masonry screws are the best option to be used on stucco. They’re thicker and made to penetrate harder surfaces like concrete and cinder blocks. Fluted masonry screws work the best because they create a stronger grasp thanks to the lines on their shafts. If you’re working on exterior stucco, use galvanized screws to prevent corrosion.

You can use small bits that are up to 3/8 inch in diameter, or larger bits that are 1/2 inch or more in diameter. Make sure the bits you use are coated with carbide or diamond; this information is usually visible on the package. You can also use hole saw bits to drill into stucco.
