Warranties offered

"They are good quality windows and their customer service was great. However a little pricey. The window latch broke after a couple months and it took seven months to get it because they claimed they discontinued the windows. How am I to get a lifetime warranty on a discontinued window? And 6 months to replace a latch. Scary. I do like the windows but I will not do this again for the other windows due to price and length it took to get broken latch fixed. Not sure how good the warranty actually is"

"Patrick and his guys did a great job. They were able to communicate with our solar company to coordinate removing, and then reinstalling the solar panels. Patrick was always quick to respond for any questions I had and worked with us anyway he could. The roof looks great and his team was friendly and worked very hard. Thank you!!"

Small jobs welcome

"I worked with Chase from Rafter B Home Services and he is a jack-of-all trades. If he doesn't know how to do something he will figure out how to do it. He fixed my sliding glass doors in a very timely and efficient manner. He called me right back whenever I reached out to him. I appreciated his great work and I would recommend him to anyone. His prices were very reasonable. He was very personable and he let me know what he was doing so that I understood what he was doing. While he was at my home I added a few small requests and he helped fulfill those for me as well. Thank you Chase for your hard work."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can add a screen door to most door frames. The screen should be able to fit standard-size door frames, so unless you have an unusually sized door, you shouldn’t have an issue. Just make sure to properly measure the frame. When in doubt, it’s best to let a pro take care of this task for you so it’s installed correctly.

If your door has interchangeable inserts, you’ll likely want to swap the glass out for a screen during the summer months. The process to do so will vary by door, but you’ll follow these general steps: First, use a flathead screwdriver to pop out the retainer strips—the plastic strips running down both long (and sometimes all four) sides of the door. Then gently pull them out by hand. Carefully remove the glass insert from the door and replace it with the screen. Finally, push the plastic retainer strips back into place, working from top to bottom.

Yes, professionals can enhance screen durability by using robust materials like stainless steel or fiberglass and employing advanced installation techniques. They provide reinforcement and repair services that extend the screens' lifespan while maintaining functionality and appearance.

Solar screens use a thick mesh of polyester to block out the UV waves and solar heat. While they are more expensive at about $7.50 per square foot, they can protect your porch or hardwood floors from sun damage and keep the room or porch on the other side of the patio cool.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.
