"It all started when the Spectrum internet tech came out to check why our cable wasn't working, well the tech thought he was an expert and didn't want to listen as he proceeded in the attic that he needed to step on the beams and just that fast he put his boot through the ceiling. To make a long story short Spectrum had us get bids for the repair, we called a few people but Lance with Wall Doctors actually came out to our house and analyzed the job and put together a bid to repair the drywall and repaint the entire ceiling area, the bid was a little higher than the others but none of them actually came to look at it. We read all the reviews about Wall Doctors online and decided we liked what Lance was offering. The job took the exact amount of time he stated, but the extra special care is where we really want to give Lance great reviews, he put up plastic in all the doors to contain the drywall and put protection down on the hardwood floor, he was able to match the paint perfectly and did two coats because he saw a little tape. When Lance left there was zero clean up to do, and the ceiling looked brand new. We would for sure hire him again!"

Vinegar and bleach are effective options for removing mold from drywall. Vinegar is a better choice if you have a smaller mold issue while bleach is best if you have a larger mold problem. If the area you're cleaning has limited ventilation, using vinegar would be a better option. In that case, you could mix vinegar with baking soda to remove more stubborn mold growth.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

Only use spackle on plaster walls when the imperfection is small. It’s best used for nail holes or small dings in the plaster. Spackle dries quickly, allowing you to continue the repair process shortly after using it. Plaster can be tricky to repair, though, so if you run into issues, call a pro so that you don’t risk further damage.

Popular wall textures include orange peel, knockdown, spray sand, and smooth finishes. Orange peel and knockdown are particularly common choices for drywall as they are simple and cost-effective. Orange peel texture has a lightly bumpy surface resembling the skin of an orange, while knockdown (sometimes called knockout) looks like a stucco finish with flattened high spots. In contrast, popcorn texture has fallen out of fashion, partly due to its past association with asbestos and a shift toward more restrained interior design styles.

You can skim coat plaster, but it’s better to repair the plaster itself. A skim coat is a thin coat of drywall joint compound spread over the surface of a wall. The result is a flat finish that looks pleasing, but part of the appeal of plaster is its imperfections and aesthetic. Skim coating is best when limited to drywall applications.
