"I live in an antebellum house, built in 1837. Over the past 175 years some of the bricks underneath the fireplace in the living room and gathering room had crumbled. "The cricket was installed and the chimney flashed. However, in checking the water damage, it was discovered that the entire frame work around an upstairs window and more much  more wood below the window was completely rotten and needed to be replaced. I had warned them that there were bees around the chimney - and when they were repairing the rotten wood, they found the bees, most of which had died off since it was late fall. In the end the job required removing part of the ceiling in the room below in order to get to the bees' nest, only then were they able to remove about 15% of honey comb.
The ceiling was patched, the upstairs room was dry walled and painted. Then all the mess was cleaned up.  This was a major job, unanticipated by both the contractor and me. However, the work was excellent and you would never know that the wall was ripped out and replaced, as well as the ceiling in the den.
I was quite satisfied with the work and will definitely use them again.
