"Horrible! They were going to charge me almost the full price of buying a brand new tiller of the same brand and model just to get it fixed. I bought it brand new at Home Depot for $300 one year ago and they wanted to charge me $250 + to get it fixed and wouldn’t even honor the 3 year warranty even though they are an echo dealer and repair certified shop. When I chose not to use them to fix it and went to pick it up, they made me pay $47 just because they said they had to take it apart to look at it for an estimate. Don’t go there for any reason! You will regret it! Absolutely Pathetic!!!"

Lawn Tool Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can tip a lawn mower on its side as long as you turn it with the carburetor side upwards. This prevents oil from leaking into the carburetor and reducing performance. You can also tip the mower backward as long as it's stable while you're working on the deck or blades for safety.

Tune up your lawn mower once a year or every 100 hours of run-time.

The best and safest way to deal with used motor oil is to bring it to an approved facility to be recycled and refined into new material. You may see recommendations to use old oil as an equipment lubricant or wood stain, but using it in these ways can be dangerous, messy, and environmentally irresponsible.

Before your lawn mower quits working entirely, it’ll likely give you some signs of wear and tear that indicate a repair is needed. Signs that you might need repairs to your lawn mower include:

  • Oil leaks

  • Vibrating engine

  • Smoking exhaust

  • Increase in time to mow

  • Unusual noises
