"Less than a year ago I had work done. They replaced all the outside water hydrant system. They were told to use the best supplies and not spare any cost to do it the best. Like their own. And they did with the exception of the post they drove to support above ground hydrant system. I was expecting a T-post, but they installed a flimsy piece of thin metal to the 2 foot out of ground pipe for hydrant, which is 10 times it's size. Not impressed. They were called about it and said they would go look at it and never responded again. Why would they? They had been paid. Now less than a year later it's leaking again. I hired another company, because they wouldn't return my calls when I called them first. They find the fittings to the old pvc into the new flex plumbing in the bottom leaking. New company hired confirmed materials used were all good quality stuff, but there best guess was Buck's installed too tight. So the best materials doesn't always to the best job; if you don't have someone that knows and has the experience of what they are doing. Just saying the labor price may be more with an experience business, but in the end it could be worth hiring someone who knows what they are doing. I regret hiring Buck's the first time. The lady on the phone isn't the nicest person to deal with either. Not hateful, but lacks understanding and care."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The cost to unclog a sewer line is between $200 and $600, with the average homeowner spending around $380, depending on the severity of the clog. It can cost as little as $100 to snake a small clog, but you could spend up to $1,600 if you need to video inspect the line and hydrojet a large clog.

Yes. Sewer cameras are invaluable tools that can help pros safely diagnose problems with your septic system. Without a camera to look into your system, septic issue diagnoses would be a combination of guessing and past experience. However, a camera can help confirm ideas that your pro may already have about what’s wrong.

Regular cleaning, avoiding grease disposal in sinks, and installing drain strainers help prevent clogs.

Unlike regular cleanings, snaking your sewer line should be done as needed. There’s no reason to snake your sewer line if you don’t have any noticeable issues, like slow drainage or plugged drains. You can add it to your regular sewer cleaning checklist as a prevention method (on the same 18- to 22-month schedule), but it’s not always necessary.

Homeowners insurance usually doesn’t cover sewer backups because it’s typically an avoidable problem with proper maintenance. The only exception would be if the backup is occurring because of local flooding and only if your city uses a combined drainage system for stormwater and sewage. If that’s the case, your policy should cover any resulting damage.
