"Luke was a gift! I moved from Colorado into a new home in Prattville, walked in the door and immediately realized I couldn’t live with the existing DIY paint job. I called Luke’s Painting, their estimate was $1400.00 less than their competitors, he started painting two days later. Luke was professional, honest, hard working and always cognizant of the fact that I was working from home while he was painting. The finished product is amazing, a realtor commented on how clean the lines are. I couldn’t be happier. Thank you Luke’s Painting!"

"Started out hiring someone to mow my yard, but turned into them staining my fence as well. They did an outstanding job on both! you can hire them with the confidence that they will go the extra mile to see to it that your projects are done correctly. Hire with confidence. I will use them again."

"This is our second project with Hobbs and we are even happier than the first project! We did not anticipate that we would need them back so soon, but a leak in our house from all the rain required immediate attention. They responded within minutes of me reaching out, came out the very next day to assess the situation, and then came out the next business day to perform the work. They were at our home for eight solid hours of work and accomplished so much more than I would’ve imagined in just one day. The work was done perfectly, efficiently, and at a very fair price. It has been raining for a couple of days now, and we just have to smile because there is not one drop coming in our house! We are already looking ahead to spring for some other projects that we plan to bring them in on. This team is top notch!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

Aftercare includes routine cleaning, checking for water repellency, and promptly addressing any chips or peels, maintaining the deck's appearance and functionality.

Choosing the best color for your home exterior should factor in longevity as well as your personal taste. To keep your house looking newly painted as long as possible, stay away from red paint. Although red homes pop and are quintessential for country-style barns, red paint tends to fade fastest in the sun. Go with earth tones if you want paint that best resists fading.

It’s often best to spray on deck sealer. Sprayers can apply sealant more quickly and evenly than rolling while still enabling you to reach tight spaces. When using a sprayer, always use a low-pressure setting at a close distance to ensure an even application. Avoid using sprayers on windy days.
