Customers say: True professional

"We are very pleased with the work done by Smoky Top Contractor. They listened carefully to our wish list, then helped up design and ultimately constructed our our dream outdoors living area. This included a paved patio area, gas fire pit, pergola and a shed. The guys arrived on time, were hard working, friendly and very conscientious. We love the work they did and truly enjoy our new outdoor space. We highly recommend Smoky Top Contractor."

"I had a good experience with AAA Paving of TN. Doug was my sales person and Perfecto was the job site project foreman and I am very pleased and feel that they did all that they promised in their contract. I have been in construction for over 40 years and while not an asphalt professional, this company did a good job and I paid them on the spot. I noted that there are some bad reviews and while I cannot comment on any of the issues sited, I am pleased with their services."

"The representative was thoughtful and very knowledgeable. He also explained that it may be a few weeks. Seven days later he phoned and said his crew would be over in the afternoon. An array of specialized machinery. A job well done. Bob S."

The average cost of 1,500 square feet of asphalt ranges from about $10,500 to $22,500, depending on location, thickness, base material, and how accessible the job site is to crews and equipment. Keep in mind that your asphalt material cost may vary depending on its type, ranging from porous asphalt to heated blacktop. Standard asphalt costs $7 to $13 per square foot.

The best ways to increase the lifespan of your driveway are to carry out proper maintenance and get repairs done quickly. First, reseal your driveway every one to three years to protect it from the elements. If you start to notice significant cracks, hire a professional to diagnose the problem before it gets more serious. You can also use sand instead of salt when de-icing your driveway (since salt is corrosive) and clean your driveway annually using a pressure washer to keep it in tip-top shape.

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.

The recommended minimum amount for a paver base is 4 inches. From there, it depends on the kind of traffic the pavers will see and the current soil conditions. Two inches of paver base won’t create the amount of stability and support that pavers need to remain securely in place over time.

Depending on project size, typically 1 to 3 days, including preparation and installation.
